PUBLIC HEARING RE• PETITION 2003-04-06-02 SUBMITTED BY THE CITY
PLANNING COMMISSION
On Monday, August 25, 2003, the above hearing was held the City Hall,
33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by Council
Vice President Knapp at 8.02 p m Present: Linda M Dolan, Joe Laura, Gerald
Taylor Val Vandersloot and Don Knapp Absent: Maureen Miller Brosnan and
Jack Engebretson
Council President Engebretson stated that in accordance with the
provisions set forth in Section 4 of Act 207 of the Public Acts of Michigan 1921,
as amended, the Zoning Act (M S.A. Section 5.2934, M C L.A. 125 584), as well
as Article XXIII of Ordinance No 543, the Zoning Ordinance of the City of
Livonia, the Council of the City of Livonia is holding a public hearing to determine
whether or not to amend Section 11 02 of Article XI and Section 18 38 of Article
XVIII of the Zoning Ordinance to comply with the Religious Land Use and
Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), which prohibits an land use regulation
that treats a religious assembly or institution on less than equal terms with a non-
religious assembly or institution
There were three (3) individuals present in the audience on this matter
Questions and comments from interested persons were given due
consideration, a transcript of which is on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
The public hearing was declared closed at 8.05 p m , Monday, August 25,
2003
