MINUTES OF THE TWO HUNDRED FIFTIETH
SPECIAL MEETING OF DECEMBER 22, 2014
On December 22, 2014, the above meeting was held at the City Hall, 33000
Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by President Brosnan at
7:00 p.m. Vice President Meakin led the meeting in the Pledge.
Roll was called with the following result: Vice President Brian Meakin,
Laura Toy, Lynda Scheel, Susan Nash, Brandon Kritzman, and President Maureen Miller
Brosnan. Absent: John Pastor.
Elected and appointed officials present: Judy Priebe, Director of Legislative
Affairs; Terry Marecki, City Clerk; Paul Bernier, Assistant City Attorney and Mayor Jack
Kirksey.
Councilperson Kritzman wished everyone a Merry Christmas.
Councilperson Nash extended birthday greetings to Laura Toy.
Councilperson Toy wished a Happy Birthday to Marie Brosnan.
There was no Audience Communication at the beginning of the meeting.
A communication from the Office of the City Clerk, dated December 15,
2014, in re: filing information for the 2015 election, was received and placed on file for
the information of the Council.
An email communication from Ken Knoll, dated December 15, 2014, in re:
combining the City Clerk and Treasurer positions, was received and placed on file for the
information of the Council.
An email communication from Ken Knoll, dated December 16, 2014, in re:
offering his expertise in examining the possibility of combining the City Clerk and
Treasurer positions in the future.

A communication from the Office of City Council dated December 17, 2014,
re: a list of interested candidates for the City Clerk position, was received and placed on
file for the information of the Council.
A communication from the Office of the City Clerk, dated December 22,
2014, re: interim appointment to the Office of the City Clerk, was received and placed on
file for the information of the Council.
Christopher Martin voiced his preference for combining the Treasurer and
City Clerk positions.
On a motion by Toy, seconded by Scheel, it was:
#382-14 RESOLVED, that having considered the report and
recommendation of the Committee of the Whole, dated December 17, 2014,
the Council does hereby appoint Susan A. Hoff to the Office of the City Clerk
of the City of Livonia, to fill the unexpired term of Terry A. Marecki, which
term expires December 31, 2015, such appointment to be effective January
1, 2015 upon taking the oath of office as required in Chapter X, Section 2
of the City Charter.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Toy, Scheel, Nash, Kritzman, Meakin and Brosnan.
NAYS: None.
The President declared the resolution adopted.
There was no Audience Communication at the end of the meeting.
On a motion by Meakin, seconded by Toy, and unanimously adopted, this
250th Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
