Mayor Kirksey requested the City Council to consider discharging from
the Legislative Committee and adopt proposed ordinance amendments regarding the
subject matter of the City of Livonia Employees Retirement Plan Ordinance, which
proposed amendments would allow Defined Benefit Plan and Defined Contribution Plan
members to run for election to the Board of Trustees of the Retirement System (election
scheduled for May 6-15, 1998), and to vote in said election. As the Mayor pointed out,
the present Defined Benefit Plan Ordinance does not allow for its members to be
nominated for election to the Board, nor can they vote in this election
