OF THE WHOLE HELD MAY 7, 1951
The above meeting was held at the City Hall and commenced at
apprcadmately 8 :15 P.M. The meeting was presided over by Harvey Jahn,
who was designated as Chairman by the President. Roll was called with the
following result: Present— Harry S. Wolfe, Wilson W. Edgar, Raymond E. Grimm,
Nettie Carey, Harvey Jahn, John Whitehead and William Taylor. Absent-- None.
The Committee of the Whole considered the following matters :
1. Report of James L. Hagen, Director of Public Safety on noise
created by Aggregate Corporation, which report was referred to the
Council for action.
2. Request of Calvin Roberts, Fire Chief, for increase of
compensation to volunteer firemen, which was referred to the
Civil Service Commission together with a recommendation that the
Civil Service Commission prepare an amended salary schedule covering
both the volunteer firemen and the special police officers.
3. Report of Herald Hamill, City Engineer, on paving of certain
streets as requested by General kdotors in the vicinity of the
Transmission Plant.
14. Report of Lester French, Director of Public Works, as to
completion of Municipal Garage balance due Davis Construction
Company, and advisability of releasing bond.
5. Report of Councilman Edgar on efforts to have Livonia declared
to be a Critical Defense Area on which it was recommended that his
efforts be continued.
6. Request of Ford Motor Company, submitted through Mayor Ziegler,
for place to dump stumps.
On motion of Councilman Whitehead, seconded by Councilman Grimm and
unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned at 10:20 P.M., May 7, 1951.
