ImmOF THE WHOLE HELD OCTOBER 1, 1951.
The above meeting was held at the City Hall and commenced at
approximately 8:09 P. M. The meeting was presided aver by John Whitehead,
who was designated as Chairman by the President. Roll was called with the
following result: Present-- Harry S. Wolfe, Wilson W. Edgar, Nettie Carey,
Raymond E. Grimm, William Taylor and John Whitehead. Absent-- Harvey Jahn.
By Councilman Edgar, seconded by Councilman Wolfe and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was:
RESOLVED, that the Committee of the Whole does hereby
recommend to the Council that Father John E. Contway be presented
with a plaque of the City of Livonia on his silver anniversary.
Mr. Clarence Coville of 'aayne County Road Commission spoke on pro—
cedure for authorizing of excavations in public streets and roads. By
Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Taylor and unanimously adopted as
follows, it was :
RESOLVED, that an explanatory letter be sent to all
property owners affected by Sewage Disposal System No. 1 advising
them of the procedure of making connections.
Mr. David Tranbley, Democratic State Representative for the 17th
District spoke to the Council on the move to obtain an independent post office.
By Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was:
RESOLVED, that union officials be invited to a Council
meeting to be held on October 29, 1951, at 8:00 P. M. and that the
City Clerk write a letter of invitation.
The committee then had a preliminary discussion with the Mayor
concerning the budget.
By Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was :
RESOLVED, that this committee meet again at 7:00 P.M.
on October 8, 1951, with the Civil Service Commission.
On motion of Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Taylor and
unanimously passed, the meeting was adjourned at 11:25 P. M., October 1, 1951.
