Home My WebLink AboutELEC COMM 1963-03-12 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA March 12, 1963 A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held on Tuesday, March 12, 1963, at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, at 10:00 A. M., at which time and place the following members of said Commission: Harvey W. Moelke Mayor Marie W. Clark City Clerk Alan Walt City Attorney were present. Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III of the Charter, the City Clerk presided over the meeting as Chairman of the Commission. The City Clerk presented for consideration the list of inspectors who worked in the City's 38 precincts at the last election on November 6, 1962, with the comment that the size of the boards probably should be cut down due to the fact that Biennial Spring Elections do not draw a heavy number of voters to the polls; provided, however, that with the Con-Con issue, plus two local Charter Amendments on the ballot, this may not be the case in this election. Careful consideration was given to the matter of appointing a Board of Inspectors of Election for each election precinct of the City, pursuant to Act No. 271 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1959, as amended, to function as such at the Biennial Spring Mection and Special City Election to be held on April 1, 1963. Upon motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Walt and unanimously carried by the affirmative vote of all members present, it was RESOLVED, that the selection of election inspectors to be appointed for the Biennial Spring Election and Special City Election to be held on April 1, 1963 will be made by Marie W. Clark, City Clerk, provided that the appointments shall include those persons named in a list drawn up and presented to the City Clerk by Commissioners Moelke and Walt in October, 1962, except in cases where the appointee does not accept the appointment, and including the additional name of Dorothy J. Burley, of 11409 Melrose; the placement of said inspectors to be left to the discretion of the Chairman of the Election Commis- sion; the result being as follows: Pct. hil Chm. Roshirt R. 36713 Richland FURTHER RESOLVED that, said boards of election inspectors as above constituted shall, on members thereof taking and subscribing the constitutional oath of office, have all powers and duties provided by L law as boards of election inspectors at the Biennial Spring Election and Special City Election of April 1, 1963; and that the salaries for the inspectors of election who will serve on April 1, 1963, be as follows: Chairmen, $22.00 Inspectors, ;18.00 such amounts being in accordance with precedence in the past for the off-year ele ctions. There being no further business to come before the Commission, on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned at approxi- mately 10:20 A.
