HomeMy WebLinkAboutELEC COMM 1967-10-23 MINUTES OF MEETING OF ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA OCTOBER 23, 1967 A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held � on October 23, 1967 at approximately 4 05 P M at 23081 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, at which time and place the following members of said commission were present Harvey W. Moelke Mayor Steve Polgar City Attorney Addison W Bacon City Clerk Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III of the Charter of the City of Livonia, City Clerk, Addison W. Bacon presided over the meeting as Chairman of the Commission. The Chairman stated that the meeting was called in accordance with the Election Laws of the State of Michigan for the purpose of appointing quali- fied Inspectors of Elections to serve at the Special City Election to be held in the City of Livonia on Tuesday, November 21, I967, to establish compensation therefore, and any other business that might properly come before the Commission The Chairman presented a ballot proof to the Commission showing the arrangements of the various proposals as they would appear on the voting machines to be prepared for the election, and further explained that such arrangements were required to meet the mechanical limitations of the machine equipment Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, to show wording on the ballot that would properly instruct electors as to method of voting on Charter and Bonding Propositions Upon a motion by Commissioner Polgar, seconded by Commissioner Moelke, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that bonding issues be in left column and Charter proposal be shown in upper right hand column with indication across machine to remind voter that they should also vote on same Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the list of Election Inspectors as recommended to the Commission in a communication dated September 26, 1967 from the City Clerk is hereby approved as submitted, and further the City Clerk be authorized to fill any vacancies that may occur from the current list of qualified persons as previously submitted Pct. #1 Pct #2 Pct .#3 Vivian McVicar R Julia H Alagine D Phyllis Lingemann D Lucille Schmidt R Madeline J LaBo D Marion Edwards R Dorothy Allen D Gladys L Collins R Muriel J Povall R Vera Z. Chairman $28 00, Inspectors $24.00. Upon a motion by Commissioner, Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized to make such arrange- ments as may be necessary to purchase ten (10) additional voting machines to provide the necessary voting equipment for the three (3) new voting precincts authorized by Ordinance Number 645, as amended, as well as providing for additional equipment as may be needed in existing precincts , in the same manner as purchased in the past, i.e Certificates of Indebtedness Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that this meeting stand adjourned at approximately 5 10 P M • Addison W Bacori, ty C erk and Chairman Ele'61-4-cua— omission -..mmumw Pct. #43 Pct. #44 Audrey Reed D Margarita Macy 111 Laura Nash Patricia Mulroy Arthur Jerolamon Anita R.
