Home My WebLink AboutELEC COMM 1966-01-28 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA January 28 , 1966 ir A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held on January 28 , 1966 at approximately 5 10 p .m. , at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia , Michigan and at which time and place the following members of said commission were present Harvey W. Moelke Mayor Steve Polgar City Attorney Addison W Bacon City Clerk Pursuant to Section 5 , Chapter III , of the Charter , the City Clerk presided over the meeting as chairman of the commission. The meeting was called to consider certain lawful require- ments for the primary and special city election to be held in the City of Livonia on February 21 , 1966 . The first item of business was the presentation of ballots to the commission. The chairman stated that there are two elections to be held, a primary city election and a special city election. The special election is for the charter revision proposition and the candidates for the Charter Commission. The chairman stated that a mistake had been made on the ballots showing that both elections were primary elections but that this was being corrected by the printer. Upon a motion by Commissioner Polgar , seconded by Commissioner Moelke, it was RESOLVED that , in the appropriate place on the ballot under instructions , the voter be informed that he is qualified to vote on the Charter Commiision members regardless of how he votes on the proposition for a general charter revision, provided that in the event such instructions are not permitted under the law, the chair- man is directed to publicize the right of the voter by what ever means is available to him. irThe vote was as follows Commissioner Moelke Aye Commissioner Polgar Aye Commissioner Bacon Abstain The chairman stated that the voting machines will be set up as follows. The special election ballots will be on the right side of the machine with the charter revision proposition first and the Charter Commission candidates underneath. Commissioner Moelke suggested that the charter revision be placed under the list of Charter Commissioner candidates and Commissioner Polgar agreed. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner irPolgar, and unanimously adopted , it was RESOLVED that, the Election Commission permit the designation of Municipal Judge to be used on the ballot at the primary city election on February 21 , 1966, as requested by the candidate, Robert H. Lorion, Municipal Judge. Upon a motion by Commissioner Polgar , seconded by Commissioner Moelke , and unanimously adopted , it was RESOLVED that , the following respective persons are hereby appointed members and alternates for the following Election Precincts of the City of Livonia for the City Primary and Special City Election to be held on Monday, February 21 , 1966 PCT #1 PCT #2 Vivian McVicar R Julia H.
