HomeMy WebLinkAboutELEC COMM 1966-07-01 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA July 1, 1966 I A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held on July 1, 1966, at approximately 9:40 A. M. , at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michi- gan and at which time and place the following members of said commission were present: Harvey W. Moelke Mayor Steve Polgar City Attorney Virginia G. Handzlik Deputy City Clerk Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III, of the Charter, the Deputy City Clerk presided over the meeting as chairman of the commission. The meeting was called to approve the list of Election Inspectors for the August 2, 1966, primary election and to establish compensation for the workers. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, it was RESOLVED that, cards be sent to qualified Election Inspectors requesting them to incH cate whether they are available to serve on Election Boards, thereby establishing a written current record of the fact that they were contacted. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Commissioner Moelke, Commissioner Polgar, and Commissioner Handzlik. NAYS: None. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED that, the list of Election Inspectors be approved as submitted with suggested additions. Apel R Mildred Phillips R Irene Coder R Shirley Lorenz D Marion M Smith D Margaret Parsons R Doris Bachman R Janet E Lenz D Hazen L Getts D Mary E Nagorsen R Beverly Glaser D Lillian S Waters D PCT. #4l Theresa Christensen D Joan Clemens D Helen Sabo D Elizabeth Duthie R Beverly Mayotte R Jeanne L Formsma R Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED that, the appointed Election Inspectors for the said primary election Lbe compensated as follows Chairman S28 00 Inspectors S24 00 Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, it was RESOLVED that, there be included in the budget of the Election Division of the City Clerk's Office, 316,000 for the purchase of eight Shoup voting machines, said machines to be purchased on Certificates of Indebtedness. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Commissioner Moelke, Commissioner Polgar, and Commissioner Bacon, NAYS: None. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED that, another meeting of the Commission be called later to renumber voting precincts using the City's section numbers as the basis of location. The Chairman stated that it would cost a lot of money and require the help of additional people in the Clerk's office to carry out the redesignation of precincts. Commissioner Moelke stated that there is no immediate need for this action but suggested the possibility of this project being undertaken after the November Election. There being no further businea3to come before the commission, on a motion by Commissioner Moelke, seconded by Commissioner Polgar, and unanimously adopted, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 A.
