MINUTES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter IV of the City Charter,
the above meeting was held on October 25, 1966, at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile
Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at
approximately 8:10 P. M. Councilman McNamara delivered the invocation. Roll was
called with the following result: Present--Peter A. Ventura, Rudolf R. Kleinert,
Edward H. McNamara, Jerry Raymond, Robert F. Nash, Jack Salvadore, and Edward G.
Milligan. Absent--none.
Elected and appointed officials present: Addison W. Bacon, City Clerk;
Steve Polgar, City Attorney; Harry C. Tatigian, first Assistant City Attorney;
Robert A. Shaw, Director of Public Works; William J. Strasser, City Engineer; and
David L. Jones, Water and Sewer Commissioner.
By Councilman Milligan, seconded by Councilman Raymond, it was
#1079-66 RESOLVED, that having considered a letter dated October 19,
1966, from Mr. Sebastian Caramango submitted in behalf of Commercial
Removal with regard to the modification of the City's contract with
Commercial Removal as previously authorized by council resolution nos.
763-64 and 823-64, and having also considered a letter dated October 25,
1966 from the Director of Public Works and the Water and Sewer Commis-
sioner, approved by the Mayor, in connection therewith, the Council does
hereby determine that in consideration of Commercial Removal agreeing to
make a pick up of all Christmas trees discarded immediately following the
Holiday season, without additional compensation, as well as increase the
equipment and manpower presently being utilized at the City's sanitary
land fill and refuse site for the purpose of improving this service that
the Council does authorize the said contract to be modified and the form
of the same amended in the following respects:
(a) The total compensation due to the contractor for the
collection of rubbish is to be increased to $1.04 per unit; and
(b) Commercial Removal shall also be paid an additional .120 per
unit specifically for the operation of the sanitary land fill and
refuse site, with the understanding that the City shall have the
option to terminate this portion of the agreement upon the giving of
a thirty (30) day written notice;
it being the understanding of the Council that the total payment to be
made to Commercial Removal for both the operation of the sanitary land
fill and refuse site and pick up service shall be in the total amount of
$1.16 per unit per month, the Council does further determine that the

foregoing modification shall be made effective commencing from October 1,
1966 and shall be in effect except as otherwise specified for the duration
of the aforesaid contract; and the Mayor and City Clerk are herein
authorized to affix their signatures to an agreement setting forth the
aforesaid changes, as well as do all other things necessary or incidental
to the full performance of this resolution; and the execution of such
contract amendment to be subject to approval as to form by the Department
of Law.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Milligan, Salvadore, Nash, Raymond, McNamara, Kleinert, and Ventura.
NAYS: None.
By Councilman Milligan, seconded by Councilman Salvadore, and unanimously
adopted, it was
#1080-66 RESOLVED, that the Council does hereby accept the resignation of
Donald R. Nicholson, 27720 Bobrich, Livonia, Michigan, from the Zoning
Board of Appeals, his resignation being submitted because of his appoint-
ment as the Director of Public Safety of the City of Livonia.
The following resolution was unanimously introduced, supported and adopted:
#1081-66 RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 21.02 of the Zoning Ordinance,
Ordinance No. 543, as amended, and Section 5 of Act 207, Public Acts of
Michigan, of 1921, as amended, Eldon R. Raymond, 38)4443 Grennada, Livonia,
Michigan, is hereby appointed as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals
for the unexpired term of Donald R. Nicholson, commencing November 1)4,
1966 and ending July 11, 1968, with all of the authority and duties as
set forth in said Zoning Ordinance and Act 207.
On motion of Councilman Nash, seconded by Councilman Salvadore, and
unanimously adopted, this 104th Special Meeting of the Council of the City of
Livonia was duly adjourned at 8:27 P. M., October 25, 1966.
