MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS
OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
Pursuant to Section 14 of Chapter III of the Charter of the City of
Livonia and the General Election Laws of the State of Michigan, the members of
the Council of the City of Livonia met as a Board of Canvassers of such City on
Thursday, April 12, 1962, at approximately 9:10 o'clock P. M. at the City Hall,
33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at
the above time and place by the President of the Council, who acted as Chairman
of the Board. The City Clerk, Marie W. Clark, presented a recount petition
submitted by James E. Mies, attorney for William W. Brashear, petitioner,
requesting a recount of the votes cast for the office of Mayor in the Regular
City Election held on Monday, April 2, 1962, and a recount petition submitted
by Peter A. Ventura, requesting a recount of the votes cast for the office of
Councilman in said election, said petitions having been filed in the office of
the City Clerk on Monday, April 9, 1962 and on Wednesday, April 11, 1962,
respectively.
It was unanimously agreed by all persons concerned that there shall
be a meeting during the week of April 16th of the City Clerk, City Attorney,
President of the Council, and the attorneys for Harvey W. Moelke, William W.
Brashear and Peter A. Ventura, at some time and place convenient to all, for
the purpose of studying and agreeing on the correct procedure under the law for
conducting this recount, and that the City Clerk is requested to forward to each
member of the Board of Canvassers and interested parties a copy of such findings
and agreements.
It having been determined that a recount would be taken of the votes
cast for the offices of Mayor and Councilman at the City Election held on April 2,
1962, this meeting of the Board of Canvassers was recessed until Saturday,

April 28, 1962 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. at the Merriman Storage Building, 11400
Merriman Road, Livonia, Michigan, the storage place of the voting machines,
the time of this adjournment being 9:35 o'clock P. M., April 12, 1962.
