HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF CANVASSERS 1962-02-22 Page 5208 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, the members of the City Council of the City of Livonia met as the Board of Canvassers of such City on Thursday, February 22, 1962, at approximately 8:33 o'clock P. M. at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at the above time and place by the President of the Council, Sydney B. Bagnall, who acted as Chairman of the Board. The City Clerk read to the Board the contents of certified statements of the returns of each precinct, as prepared and certified by the election inspectors of each precinct and filed in her office and these returns were publicly examined and canvassed by the Board, and were approved. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman McCann, it was RESOLVED, that the following Statement of Votes Cast in the Primary and Special City flection held on February 19, 1962: THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST WITHIN THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS TWELVE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED SEVENTEEN 12,317 THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS TWELVE THOUSAND NO HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO 12,2 AND TIIEY WERE GIVEN FOR THE FOLLOWING NAKED PERSONS: WILLIAM W. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: McCann, Daugherty, Kleinert and Bagnall. NAYS: None. The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that certified copies of the same be prepared and be signed by each member of the Board. By Councilman Daugherty, seconded by Councilman Kleinert, it was RESOLVED that the Board of Canvassers make and sign the following Certificate: CERTIFICATE OF DETERMINATION STATE OF MICHIGAN) ss. COUNTY OF WAYNE We, the undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Livonia, acting as the Board of Canvassers, pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, do hereby meet on this 22nd day of February, A. D. 1962, this being the first Thursday following the Primary and Special City Election held on February 19, 1962, and publicly canvass the returns of such election, and do hereby determine the result of such Page 5211 canvass and the persons who have been nominated at such election; and that the attached list, as identified by the signature of the President of the Council, contains the names of the persons who were duly nominated for the designated offices at such Primary Election held on February 19, 1962; and further, we do hereby determine the results of the votes cast on four (4) proposed amendments to the City Charter of the City of Livonia were as follows: Regarding Charter Amendment Proposal No. 1, to change the salary of the Mayor to tivl2,000.00 per annum, we do hereby determine that said proposal did not carry by 1713 Yes votes and 2957 No votes; and Regarding Charter Amendment Proposal No. 2, to change the salary of the Treasurer to $9,600.00 per annum, we do hereby determine that said proposal did not carry by 1432 Yes votes and 3191 No.votes; and Regarding Charter Amendment Proposal No. 3, to change the salary of the City Clerk to $9,600.00 per annum, we do hereby determine that said proposal did not carry by 1275 Yes votes and 3349 No votes; and Regarding Charter Amendment Proposal No. 4, to change the compensation for Members of the City Council to $3,600.00 per annum did not carry by 1372 Yes votes and 3236 No votes; at the Special City Election held concurrently with the Primary City Flection on February 19, 1962. The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that such certificate of determination be prepared and signed by each member of the Board. On motion of Councilman McCann, seconded by Councilman Kleinert and unanimously adopted, the meeting of the Board of Canvassers was adjourned at approxi- mately 8:40 o'clock P. M., February 22, 1962.
