HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF CANVASSERS 1960-04-07 Page 4307 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, the members of the City Council of the City of Livonia met as the Board of Canvassers of such City on Thursday, April 7, 1960, at approximately 8:15 P. M., at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at the above time and place by the President of the Council, Austin T. Grant, who acted as Chairman of the Board. The City Clerk, Marie W. Clark, read to the Board the contents of certified statements of the returns of each precinct, as prepared and certified by the election inspectors of each precinct and filed in her office and these returns were publicly examined and canvassed by the Board and were approved. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Sasser, it w as RESOLVED that, the following Statement of Votes cast in the regular City election held on April 4, 1960: THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS ELEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE 11,253 AND THEY WERE GIVEN FOR THE FOLLOWING NAMED PERSONS: WILLIAM W. BRASHEAR RECEIVED SEVEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE 7,153 JOHN I. SPANICH RECEIVED FOUR THOUSAND CNE HUNDRED 11,100 TOTAL 11,253 THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR THE OFFICE OF CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS EIGHT THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY 8,960 AND THEY WERE GIVEN FOR TEE FOLLOWING NAMED PERSONS: MARIE W. A roll call vote was taken on the bregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Bagnall, Kleinert, Sasser, Salvadore and Grant. NAYS: None. The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that certified copies of the same be prepared and be signed by each member of the Board. Councilman James R. McCann arrived at 8:21 P. M. By Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman Kleinert, it was RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the following certificate: CERTIFICATE OF DETERMINATION STATE OF MICHIGAN ) ) ss COUNTY OF WAYNE ) WE DO HEREBY CERTIFY, that the foregoing is a correct statement of the votes given in the City of Livonia, Wayne County, at the regular City election held in said City, on Monday, the fourth day of April, in the year 1960, for the election of candidates for the office of Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer, Members of the Council, and Constables of said City.
