MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF
CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, all the members
of the City Council of the City of Livonia met as the Board of Canvassers of such
City on Thursday, April 10, 1958, at approximately 8:15 P.M., at the City Hall,
33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at the
above time and place by the President of the Council, Austin T. Grant, who acted
as Chairman of the Board. The City Clerk, Marie W. Clark, read to the Board the
contents of certified statements of the returns of each precinct, as prepared and
certified by the election inspectors of each precinct and filed in her office and
these returns were publicly examined and canvassed by the Board, and were approved.
By Councilman Daugherty, seconded by Councilman Bagnall, it was
RESOLVED that, the following Statement of Votes cast in the
regular City election held on April 7, 1958:

The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that
certified copies of the same be prepared and be signed by each member of the Board.
By Councilman Daugherty, seconded by Councilman Bagnall, it was
RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the
following certificate:

WE DO HEREBY CERTIFY, that the foregoing is a correct statement
of the votes given in the City of Livonia, Wayne County, at the regular
City election held in said City, on Monday, the seventh day of April, in
the year 1958, for the election of candidates for the office of Mayor,
City Clerk, City Treasurer, Members of the Council, Municipal Judge, and
Constables of said City.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, We, the undersigned members of the Board
of Canvassers of the City of Livonia for said regular City election have
1110 hereunto set our hands, at Livonia, Michigan, in said County, this 10th
day of April, A. D. 1958.

regular City Election held on April 7, 1958, an amendment to the Charter:
THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST WITHIN THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS NINE THOUSAND
TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-TWO (9,252):
YES NO
The total number of votes cast on Proposal #1 was
9,252, and they were given in the following way: 1,618 7,634

RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the

We, the undersigned members of the City Council, acting as
the Board of Canvassers, pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the
Charter, do hereby meet on this first Thursday following the regular
City election held on April 7, 1958, and publicly canvass the returns
of such election, and do hereby determine the result of such canvass
and the results of the votes cast within the City of Livonia on the
following proposed amendment:
Proposal #1, An amendment changing the salaries of the
members of the City Council, and do hereby determine that said
Proposal #1 was not adopted by 1,618 Yes votes and 7,635 No votes
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have hereunto attached our signatures
on this 10th day of April, 1958.

On motion of Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman O'Neill, and

unanimously adopted, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:21 P.M.,
April 10, 1958.
