MINUTES OF THE TWO HUNDRED FORTY-SECOND REGULAR MEETING
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On April 14, 1958, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and oeing the first meeting of the new Council following the
City election on April 7, 1958, and the inauguration of the newly elected members
of the Council on this 14th day of April, 1958, such meeting was called to order
by Marie W. Clark, City Clerk, at approximately 9:00 o'clock P. M. The Reverend
Jay P. Coulton, Pastor of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, delivered the invocation.
Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Frank O'Neill, Sydney B.
Bagnall, Rudolf R. Kleinert, Austin T. Grant, Robert Sasser, Jack Salvadore and
James R. McCann.
Councilman Kleinert nominated Councilman Grant as President and asked
that nominations be closed and the Clerk be instructed to cast ai unai imous ballot
for Mr. Grant.
By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Bagnall and unanimously
adopted, it was
#22)4-58 RE.3OLVED that, Austin T. Grant is hereby declared to be
President of the City Council for the two year period commencing
April 1)4, 1958.
Marie W. Clark, City Clerk, thereupon escorted the new President to the
chair, and Mr. Grant presided over the balance of the meeting.
Councilman O'Neill nominated Councilman McCann for the office of Vice-
President and asked that nominations be closed and the Clerk be instructed to
cast an unanimous ballot for Mr. McCann.
By Councilman O'Neill, seconded by Councilman Sasser and unanimously
adopted, it was
#225-58 RESOLVED that, James R. McCann is hereby declared to be Vice-
President of the City Council for the two year period commencing April
14, 1958.

Councilman Salvadore nominated Councilman Rudolf R. Kleinert as a
member of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors and asked that nominations be
closed and an unal imous ballot be cast for Mr. Kleinert.
By Councilman Salvadore, seconded by Councilman Sasser and unanimously
adopted, it was
#226-58 RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 1 of Chapter X of the
Charter of the City of Livonia, the Council does hereby appoint Rudolf
R. Kleinert as one of the Supervisors of the City of Livonia to represent
the City on the Board of Supervisors for the County of Wayne, to hold
office for a term of two years following this appointment and until his
successor shall have been duly appointed and qualified, and with all
the powers and duties set forth in said section; provided, however, that
the person appointed to such office shall comply with the provisions of
Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter X of the Charter.
By Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman O'Neill and unanimously
adopted, it was
#227-58 RESOLVED that, the minutes of the 241st regular meeting of
the Council of the City of Livonia held April 10, 1958, are hereby ap-
L proved as submitted.
The President thereupon appointed Councilman Jack Salvadore to the
Board of Trustees for the Employees Retirement System.

By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Sasser and unanimously
adopted, it was
#228-58 RESOLVED that, regular meetings of the City Council be
scheduled for April 21st and 28th, 1958.
On motion of Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman McCann and
unanimously adopted, this 242nd regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Livonia was duly adjourned at 9:08 P. M., April 1)4, 1958.
