ADJOURNED MEETING uF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS S CF THE
CITY OF LIVONIA
Pursuant to Section 876 of the Laws Relating to Elections in the State
of Michigan, the members of the City Council of the City of Livonia met as the
Board of Canvassers of such City in an adjourned meting on Monday, March 5, 1956.
The meeting was called to order at 5:10 P.M., by the President of the Council,
John T. Daugherty, who acted as Chairman of the Board. Roll was called with the
following result: Present-- John T. Daugherty, David L. Jones, Harry R. Killam,
Rudolf R. Kleinert, John W. rJhitehead and Nettie Carey. Absent-- *Wilson W.Edgar.
Councilman Kleinert read the following statement:
STATEMENT OF BOARD OF CA1\VAS a.F"RS
On Saturday, March 3, 1956, the Board of Canvassers
proceeded to recount the votes cast for the office of Council-
man as they pertained to candidates Mrs. Jane R. Henderson and
Michael D. Lyons, at which time Jane H. Henderson was present
and was represented by Hubert Mitchell, attorney; and Michael
D. Lyons was present and was represented by Stanley T. Morrison,
attorney.
The Clerk presented to the Board of Canvassers the
tabulation of votes cast for Councilman as follows:
MICHAEL D. LYONS - One Thousand Two Hundred Seventeen (1,217) Votes
JANE R. HENDERSON - One Thousand Two Hundred Fifteen (1,215) Votes
which votes weie cast at the Primary City Election held on Monday,
February 20, 1956, as shown by the recount, Mich statement is
signed by all members of the Board of Canvassers.

Chairman Daugherty asked if there were any objections from the interested
parties of the manner in which the recount was conducted and the results obtained

and Mr. Stanley T. Morrison, representing Michael D. Lyons,, replied there were no
objections from Mr. Lyons.
By Councilman x leinert, seconded by Councilman Whitehead, it was
RESOLVED that
WHEREAS, this council has recounted the ballots cast at
the Primary Election held on Monday, February 20, 1956, as to the
office of Councilman,
THERE Oi-E BE IT RoLOLVED that, upon said recount the Council
finds that the several candidates received votes at said election as
follows:
Michael D. Lyons - One Thousand Two Hundred Seventeen (1,217) Votes
Jane R. Henderson - One Thousand Two Hundred Fifteen (1,215) Votes
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, Michael D. Lyons be and is hereby
declared nominated at said Election to the office of Councilman.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Jones, Killam, Kleinert, Whitehead, Carey and Daugherty.
NAYS: None.
*Councilman Edgar arrived at 8:15 P. M.
On motion of councilman hleinert, seconded by Councilman Jones and
unanimously adopted, this adjourned meeting of the Board of Canvassers was duly
adjourned at 8:19 P. M., March 5, 1956.
