MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF
CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVON:IA
Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, the members of the
City Council of the City of Livonia met as the Board of Calvassers of such City on
Thursday, April 5, 1956, at approximately 7:40 P. M., at the City Hall, 33001 Five
Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. The meeting was coiled to order at the above time
and place by the President of the Council, John T. Daugherty, who acted as Chairman
of the Board. The City Clerk, Marie W. Clark, read to the board the contents of
certified statements of the returns of each precinct, as prepared and certified by
the election inspectors of each precinct and filed in her office and these returns
were publicly examined and canvassed by the board, and were approved.
By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Whitehead, it was
RESOLVED that, the following Statement of Votes cast in the
regular City election held on April 2, 1956:

NAYS: None.
The Chairman declared the foregoirag resolution adopted and directed that
certified copies of the same be prepared and be signed by each member of the Board.
By Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Kleinert, it was
RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the
following certificate:

WE DO HEREBY CERTIFY, that the foregoing is a correct statement
of the votes given in the City of Livonia, Wayne County, at the r egular
City election held in said City, on Monday, the second day of April, in
the year 1956, for the election of candidates for the office of Mayor,
City Clerk, City Treasurer, Members of the Council and Constables of
said City.

of Canvassers of the City of Livonia for said regular City election have
hereunto set our hands, at Livonia, Michigan, in said County, this 5th

RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the
following certificate:

COUNTY OF WAYNE )
We, the undersigned members of the City Council, acting as
the Board of Canvassers, pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the
Charter, do hereby meet on this first Thursday following the regular
City election held on April 2, 1956, and publicly canvass the returns
of such election, and do hereby determine the result of such canvass
and the results of the votes cast within the City of Livonia on the
following proposed amendrrents:
Proposal #1, An amendment providing for the introduction of the
Block System for anployees of the Fire Department, and do hereby
determine that said Proposal #1 was duly adopted by 6,616 Yes votes
and 864 No votes.
Proposal #2, An amendment changing the salary of the City Clerk
of the City of Livonia, and do hereby determine that said Proposal #2
was duly adopted by 3,823 Yes votes and 3,630 No votes.
Proposal #3, An amendment changing the salaries of the numbers
of the City Council, and do hereby determine that said Proposal #3
was duly adopted by 41402 Yes votes and 3,070 No votes.
IN WITNESo WHEREOF, we have hereunto attached our signatures

On motion of Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Jones and
unanimously adopted, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:00 o'clock P. 14.,
April 5, 1956.
