MINUTES OF THE THIRTY-THIRD SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On August 20, 1956 the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order at approximately 8:04 P.M. by the
Vice President of the Council, Frank O'Neill. Roll was called with the
following result: Present - Frank 01"eill, Sydney B. Bagnall, Rudolf R.
Kleinert, Peter A. Ventura, and John T. Daugherty. Absent -- Austin T.
Grant and David L. Jones. Austin T. Grant waived his right to Notice of
Special Meeting by letter, and a notice was delivered to the home of
David L. Jones pursuant to the provisions of the Charter.
This Special Meeting was called by Mayor William W. Brashear
pursuant to Section 8 Chapter 4 of the Charter of the City cf Livonia.
By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Bagnall and
unanimously adopted, it was resolved:
#525-56 RESOLVED, that, the Council pursuant to Sub-Section (h)
Section 1L1. Chapter 5 of the City Charter, and upon its own motion,
does hereby retain the law firm of Berry and Hopson, consisting of
Michael Berry and Thornton Hopson as special legal counsel to handle
the matter of the appeal of George E. Harmon to the Civil Service
Commission, and to assist and co-counsel with the City Attorney
for such limited time as the Mayor shall specify; that said firm
shall receive compensation of $25.00 an hour for the services of
both members, and that such compensation may be charged against
and paid from the unexpended and unencumbered balance of the City
Attorney salary appropriation for the current year.
By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Bagnall and unanimously
adopted this 33rd Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Livonia was
duly adjourned at 8:17 P.M., August 20, 1956.
