MINUTES OF FIRST REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA May 29, 1950 The members of the Council, having taken their oath of office as provided by the Charter, the first meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was called to order on May 29, 1950, at 8.30 P id , at the City Hall, 33110 Five Mile Road, at which time and place the following persons, being all of the members of the Council, were present- Harry S Wolfe, Raymond E Grimm, Wilson W Edgar, Harvey Jahn, Nettie Carey, William Taylor and John Whitehead. With the consent of all present, Wilson W. Edgar was chosen to act as Temporary Chairman of the meeting and immediately assumed that position. The Chairman asked for nominations for office of Temporary Secretary of the meeting and, on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was A-1 RESOLVED, that Nettie Carey be, and hereby is appointed Temporary Secretary of the Council, to act until a City Clerk has been appointed and qm 3 ified The Chairman next asked whether or not it was the wish of the Council to make this meeting a regular meeting of the Council so that official action can be taken on the election of President of the Council On motion made by Harvey Jahn, seconded by William Taylor and unanimously carried, it was A-2 RESOLVED, that this meeting of the Council, on this 29th day of May, 1950, be and hereby is made the first regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia The Chairman requested nomination for the office of President Harvey Jahn nominated Harry S. Wolfe No other nominations were made and Mr Wolfe was unanimously elected. Harry S. Wolfe accepted the office of President and thereupon took charge of the meeting Page 2. The President presented to the Council the applications of Ann Touple and Edith Kaufman for position of the City Clerk. On motion made by Wilson W Edgar, seconded by John Whitehead and unanimously carried, it was A-3 RESOLVED, that the applications of Ann Touple and Edith Kaufman for City Clerk be placed on file for further consideration.
