HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2007-04-12MINUTES OF THE 624th REG UTAR MEETING OF THE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION The 624th Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor conference room at City Hall on Thursday, April 12, 2007 and called to order by Chairman Kevin Priddy. PRESENT: Commissioners Kevin Priddy, Gordon Draper, Thomas Kerr, Amy Kirksey, Thomas Kerr, Joe Steele and Sergeant David Strait. The Commission reviewed the minutes of the meeting of March 8, 2007. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, That the commission minutes for March 8, 2007 be approved as submitted. The commission discussed with Mr. Fernon Feenstra, 16803 Shrewsbury, his request submitted for a friend for a DEER CROSSING sign in the area of Bell Creek and Hubbard. The commission felt there was no need for a sign at this time and made the following resolution. Upon a motion by Mr. Steele, seconded by Mr. Draper, and unanimously approved, it was 03-07 RESOLVED, That the commission will take no further action at this time on the request for a DEER CROSSING sign in the area of Bell Creek and Hubbard. The commission reviewed with Mr. Gary J. Tressel of Schostak a map of the proposed Wonderland Village and MDOT's request for concurrence on its findings to allow left turns from exits between the new boulevard and Middlebelt Road, with prohibiting left turns at the boulevard driveway. After further discussion with Sergeant Strait regarding this matter, the commission approved the following resolution Upon a motion by Mr. Kerr, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously approved, it was 03-07 RESOLVED, That the commission concurs with the MDOT findings to allow left turns from exits between the new boulevard at Middlebelt Road, with prohibiting left turns at the boulevard driveway at the proposed Wonderland Village property at Middlebelt and Plymouth Road with the stipulation that the commission wil I revisit this request one year after the opening of the shopping center. The commission reviewed traffic control recommendations submitted by Sergeant Stuck for the Police Department regarding Section 7 (borders Seven Mile to the north, Newburgh to the east, Six Mile to the south and Haggerty to the West) and approved the following resolutions: Upon a motion by Mr. Kerr, seconded by Mr. Draper, and unanimously approved, it was 05-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves removal of four (4( STOP signs A Queensbury and Caliburn and installation of YIELD signs for Queensbury at Cali burn Upon a motion by Mr. Kerr, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously approved, it was 06-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the removal of three (3( STOP signs at Margaretta and Glengary and the installation of YIELD signs for Margaretta at Glengary. Upon a motion by Mr. Kerr, seconded by Mr. Draper, and unanimously approved, it was 07-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves changing the STOP sign to a YIELD sign at Kingsbury at Glengary. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously approved, it was 08-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves removal of the STOP sign for Glengary at Caliburn but will revisit the area at a later date. The commission reviewed Traffic Control Orders submitted by the Police Department and made the following resolutions: Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. Kerr, and unanimously approved it was 09-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves Traffic Control Order #07-05 (Permanent( Section 7 to install STOP sign for Laurel Park Ct. at Laurel Park N.; install STOP sign for University Park at Laurel Park N.; install NO TRUCKS EXCEPT DELIVERIES sign on Blue Skies south of Seven Mile; install YIELD sign for Dardanella at Blue Skies; install ROAD ENDS sign at turn around on Margareta west of Nola. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper seconded by Ms. Kerr, and unanimously approved it was 10-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves Traffic Control Order #07-06 (Permanent( Section 7 to Remove BUMP signs on Newburgh at Seven Mile (TCO 70-32(; remove WATCH FOR PEDESTRIANS sign on Blue Skies LOU' north of Dardanella (TCO 9009(; remove ROAD ENDS signs on Kingsbury and Caliburn at Newburgh (TCO 91-14(; remove NO CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC and ROAD ENDS signs (TCO 96- 02(. Upon a motion by Mr. Steele, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously approved, itwas 11-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves Traffic Control Order #07-07 (Permanent( Section: 7 to remove LANE ENDS MERGE RIGHT signs on Laurel Park N., north of Six Mile. The commission agreed to postpone the May meeting to the following Thursday, May 17, 2007 when chairman Priddy can be present.
