Home My WebLink AboutTraffic Commission 2008-05-08MINUTES OF TDE 635th REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION The 635th Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor conference room A City Hall on Thursday, May 8, 2008 and called to order by Chairman Joe Steele. PRESENT: Commissioners Gordon Draper, Amy Khksey, Gordon St. John, Cindy Quin -Ventura and Sergeant David Sundt. Also in attendance: James Sows, Mike Miller, Leonard Sorel The minutes of the meeting of March 13. 2008 were reviewed. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mrs. Quin -Ventura, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, That the commission minutes for March 8, 2008 be approved as submitted. Mr. Sows, 16045 Oporto, and Mike Miller, 15981 Doris, expressed their concems as to the removal of STOP signs at Puritan and Henry Ruff. After discussion of traffic volume in the area and safety concerns, the commission will request more police monitoring in the area. The commission reviewed a letter received from Leonard Sokol requesting a left turn only lane to north Familngton Rd. from eastbound I-96 service drive. Mr. Sokol discussed with the commission his reasons for this request and the commission stated they would ask the Police Department to monitor this area and make a recommendation regarding the need. The commission reviewed a request from the Police Department to install a speed reduction sign (W3-5) for eastbound Schoolcraft west of Inkster showing 35 mph speed ahead. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. St. John, and unanimously adopted, it was 15-05 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the installation of a speed reduction sign (W3-5) for eastlwund Schoolcraft west of Inkster showing 35 mph speed ahead. Sergeant Studt reported that M -DOT will be doing another engineering study in the fall regarding Am Arbor Rd. and Newburgh. The commission will take no action at this time but will postpone review until fall. The commission reviewed Traffic Control Survey Recommendations regarding Section 15.
