HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2009-11-12MINUTES OF THE 651st REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION The 651st Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third Floor conference room at City Hall on Thursday November 12, 2009 and called to order by Chairman Joe Steele_ PRESENT_ Commissioners Gordon Draper, Jim Pulicelli, Kevin Purdy, John Katers, Gordon SL John, Sergeant Dave Stud[, and Todd Zilincik, City Engineer_ Also present Bruce Tenniswood, 34921 Beacon, Brian Malanowski, 15975 Hanson, Erin O'Brien, 14953 Patlerewski, Ian WiShaw, PO Box 530397_ The minutes of the meeting of September 10, 2009 were reviewed_ Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr_ Katers, and approved, d was 9945 RESOLVED, That the commission minutes for September 10, 2009 be approved as presented The commission reviewed the request tram Enn O'Brien, 14953 Paderewski, for NO PARKING AT ANYTIME signs for Jamison from Middlebek to Paderewski..Ms. O'Brien stated her concern was the Saturday and Sunday parking of parishioners of Sl. Genevieve Church. Although there is ample parking on the church property, the street parking is closer to the church door. Therefore, both sides of Jamison is congested with parketl cars during mass which causes obstruction of drivers view entering Jamison from the side streets from Middlebelt to Padenewski. Sgt Studt stated W would talk to the priest at the church and ask him to encourage his parishioners to use the church parking lot rather than the street Bruce Tenniswood, 34921 Beacon, addressed the commission on his concerns for heavy traffic during rush hour on eastbound Plymouh to northbound Stark. He requested L to be posted NO THROUGH TRAFFIC. The chairman informed him that this was a public raatl and could not be posted as this SgL Stutlt stated he would have a speed trailer sent to the area to check the tmffc0ow_ TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTES November 12, 2009 Page 2 The commission reviewed the Police Department's recommendations for the intersections of Lyndon and Hubbard, Lyndon and Yale, and Lyndon and Henry Rug Upon a motion by Mr. Priddy, seconded by Mr_ St John, and approved, d was 0946 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the following recommendations_ Re: Lyndonand Hubbard Remove STOP sign on Lyndon, leave STOP sign at Hubbard Re: Lyndon and Yale Remove STOP sign for Lyndon, leave STOP sign for Yale Re_ Lyntlon and Henry Ruff Remove STOP signs for Lyndon, leave STOP sign for Henry Rug The commission reviewed the Police Departments speer] evaluation of Ha from Joy Read to Ann Arbor Roar]_ Upon a motion by Mr. Priddy, seconded by Mr Draper, and approved, it was 0947 RESOLVED, That the commission approves a speed limit of 30 mph on Ha Rd tram Joy Rd. to Ann Arbor Rd. The commission reviewed the request from the Police Department to remove NO PARKING signs on Levan tram Plymouth Rd_ to Five Mile Rd. TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTES November 12, 2009 Page 3 Upon a motion by Mr Purdy, seconder] by Mr St John, and approved, d was 0949 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the removal of NO PARKING signs on Levan tram Plymouth Rd. to Five Mile Rd. OPPOSE_ Mr Draper The commission reviewed the Police Departments request to remove lane usage signs for eastbound Schoolemft west of Middlebe9; westbound Schoolemft east of Women wes(bnwd Schoolcraft east of Levan. Upon a motion by Mr St John, seconded by Mr Pulicelli, and approved, d was 0949 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the removal of lane usage signs for eastbourA Schoolemft west of Middlebe9; westbound Schoolemft east of Women westbound Schoolcraft east of Levan The commission reviewed the Police Department's request to post LEFT LANE MUST TURN LEFT (R�7) for westbound Schoolcraft east of Farmington and westbound Schoolemft east of Newbugh_ Upon a motion by Mr Draper, seconded by Mr Katers, and approved, L was 09-50 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the request to post LEFT LANE MUST TURN LEFT (R3-7) for westbowd Schoolcraft east of Farmington and westbound Schoolemft most of Newburgh The commission reviewed the request tram Tina Gilver, 30407 Hoy, to remove NO PARKING signs and replace them with SPEED LIMIT signs on Henry Rut between Lyndon and Five Mile_ TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTES November 12, 2009 Page 4 Upon a motion by Mr St John, seconded! by Mr Policelli, and approved, L was 0950 RESOLVED, That the commission will take an further action on the request to remove NO PARKING signs and replace them with SPEED LIMIT signs on Henry Ruff between Lyndon and Five Mile_ Upon a motion by Mr Deeper, seconded! by Mr. St. John, and approved, it was RESOLVED, that the mmmission approves the following Traffic Control Orders: 09-23 Sec on 23 Remove signs and pavement markings that allow the right two lanes to tum right from westbound Schoolcaft to northbound Middlebelt Post RIGHT LANE MUST TURN RIGHT for westbound Schoolcaft to northbound Middlebelt 09 -TA Sec on 22 Remove signs and pavement markings that allow the right two lanes to turn right from westbound Schoolcaft to northbound Farmington. Post RIGHT LANE MUST TURN RIGHT for westbound Schoolcaft to northbound! Farmington 09-25 Section 31 Post speed limit on His between Joy and Ann Arbor Read as 30 miles per hour 09-26 Secton 20. 29 Remove NO PARKING signs on Levan between Plymouth Road and Five Mile.
