LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION
The 675th Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor
conference room at City Hall on Thursday, March 8, 2012; it was called to order by Chairman
Joe Steele.
PRESENT: Commissioners: John Katers, Kevin Priddy, Gordon Draper, Jim Policelli, City Engineer
Todd Zilincik along with Police Offices Sergeant John Gibbs.
Agenda Item 1: The minutes of the February 9, 2012, meeting was reviewed.
Upon a motion by Gordon Draper, seconded by Kevin Priddy, it was approved by unanimous
vote that
12-85 RESOLVED the commission minutes from February 9, 2012, are approved as
presented.
Agenda Item 2: A final review of the traffic control devices on Library Drive and Civic Center
Drive was conducted. Traffic Control Order (TCO) 12-03 was approved for a pedestrian crossing
sign and a painted 'ladder -style' crosswalk on Library Drive from the Main Library to the 161h
District Courthouse. Also, TCO 12-07 was issued to paint a similar crosswalk on Library Drive at
Civic Center Drive. City Engineer Todd Zilincik and Sergeant John Gibbs have the specific
locations for these crosswalks. This TCO authorization was presented by Gordon Draper,
seconded by John Katers with unanimous support.
12-86 RESOLVED that TCO 12-03 to install yield signs and paint a pedestrian crosswalk
on Library Drive from the library to the courthouse and TCO 12-07 to paint a
pedestrian crosswalk on Library Drive and Civic Center Drive be signed and authorized.
Agenda Item 3: Moved to April 12, 2012 meeting
Agenda Item 4: John Katers presented an overview of the most used changes to the Michigan
Department of Transportation (MDOT) manual (presented in December 2011). John covered
the changes that we discuss on a regular basis—he also covered topics that could be unique to
some city subdivisions. Overall this was very helpful information for all of us.
Upon a motion by Jim Policelli, seconded by Gordon Draper, it was approved by unanimous
vote that
RESOLVED, that the meeting be adjourned at 8:44 pm
