LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION
The 696`" Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third -floor conference room at
City Hall on Thursday, March 13, 2014; it was called to order by Joe Steele.
PRESENT: Commissioners: Kevin Priddy, Cinch Quinn -Ventura, Gordon Draper and Jim Policelli, City of
Livonia Police Officer: Sergeant Joseph Boims and City of Livonia Engineer: Todd Zilincik
VISITORS ATTENDING: Mike Bentley & Came Giasidlo, 9267 Richfield, Livonia (section 33); Pat Reed,
37506 Eagle, Livonia (section 31); Bruce Mastan, 35755 Minton, Livonia (section 31); Anthony D'Agostino,
38594 Lancaster Court (section 18).
Agenda Rem 1: The minutes of the February 13, 2014, meeting was reviewed.
Upon a motion by Gordon Draper, seconded by Kevin Priddy, it was approved by majority vote that:
14-144 RESOLVED the commission minutes from February 13, 2014, are approved as presented.
Agenda Rem 2: Anthony D'Agosrino expressed concern with vehicle parking on Lancaster Court specifically,
vehicles parked in the circle part of the court which limit trash, delivery and other vehicles in the area. Anthony
is requesting no parking signs on the street. A total of five homes are on this street There was a good exchange
of parking habits, issues and various options and their effects in the neighborhood. Anthony agreed to approach
and discuss these options with his neighbors and will return at a future meeting to discuss father. No father
action is required at this time.
Agenda Item 3: Kyle Bentley, Came Giasidlo and Pat Reed all expressed concerns with vehicle parking on
Eagle Street. Due to the extreme weather condition and mow plowing, vehicle parking on both sides of the
street has created hazardous and limited driving on the street. This has been an ongoing concern with school
activities at Churchill High School and the limited parking at the Career Center, but this winter has "choked
off' street traffic. Fortunately, they had the benefit of hearing the discussion and options that were presented to
Anthony D'Agostino; however, they have the option to approach and work through a neighborhood association.
This group will return at a later date and discuss the issue further. At this time, no further action is required.
Agenda Item 4: Joe Steele affirmed that the Livonia Police Department is authorized to issue temporary
Traffic Control Orders (TCO's) for suspending "No Tom on Red" signs on east and west bound Schoolcmft
during the rebuilding of the I-96 Freeway.
Upon a motion by Gordon Draper, seconded by Jim Policelli, it was approved by majority vote that:
14-145 RESOLVED to affirm that Livonia Police Department is authorized to issue temporary
TCO's during the rebuilding of the 196 freeway this year.
NonAgendaItem: Bruce Mastan identified an area near the intersection of Pmkdale, Raleigh and Van Court
in section 32. Winter weather conditions and normal street traffic have eroded the soft shoulder creating a
potential driving hazard. Todd is familiar with this area and the conditions and will have a crew review and
provide any corrective action. He will advise the commission if any further action is required.
Agenda Item 5: Todd provided a brief update on the I-96 construction plan. It now appears that the start date
will be April 5. This should not affect the completion date. Also, the bridge removal schedule is still being
developed and will be presented when approved.
RESOLVED, that the meeting he adjourned at 8:45 pm
