LIVONIA HISTORICAL COMMISSION MINUTES
November 18, 2015
The VOTING meeting was called to order at the Alexander Blue House on November
18, 2015 at 6:45 pm.
Present: Ken Bourgon, Deanna Brown, Mary Cambridge, Sue Daniel, Nancy Frye,
Barbara Mansfield, Gary Pritchard, Sandi Pritchard and Linda Trewin.
Also present: Linda Wiacek, Linda McCann, Kathie Glynn and Kathy Barshe-Johnson
Sandi Prichard moved to approve the September 16, 2015 minutes, motion supported
by Deanna Brown. Motion carried.
Mary Cambridge presented the August, September and October 2015 Treasurer’s
report, which was placed on file.
Announcements:
December 9, 2015 will be a joint Commission Christmas dinner event with the Historical
Commission and the Preservation Commission with special guests attending. The
special guests will be the present and future city administration members. Kathy
Barshe-Johnson is coordinating the dinner event.
Participants will begin the evening at the Hill House which has been decorated by three
Quester groups following with a meal at the Alexander Blue House. Approximately 50 –
60 people will be participating and arrangements will be made for a transportation
between buildings.
Kathie Glynn presented information on the accessioning of wedding gowns and other
artifacts being received from Livonia residents. There have been 7-8 accessions of
items donated to Greenmead during the past year and some include a variety of items
per accession.
Linda Wiacek presented her report which included the following topics:
Work by Buckmaster in various buildings
Meeting House roof completion
Farmhand’s roof replaced
Ceiling in the Meeting House kitchen and bathroom are fixed
Covered gutters at the Meeting House with pop up drains in 2016
Work by Bongero includes the 8 Mile fence and gate replacement of the Newburgh
gate.
Friends donated $15,000 for this project and approximately $ 10,000 has been
spent.
The Parsonage will have a new caretaker (John Dupuie) and the building is ready for
him to move in.
The church organ has been replaced.
Architect, Mike Kirk has been working on drawing for the Nankin-Mills school placement
at Greenmead.
Greenmead: the Friends of Greenmead will cover the cost of an architect for the
greenhouse. Greenmead will be applying for a grant from the Livonia Community
Foundation.

Grandma’s Attic will be held Saturday, November 21 from 10am-4pm.
The Bunn coffee service, water dispense and stove have been repaired at the
Alexander Blue House.
Decorating the Simmons/Hill House has been completed.
Greenmead was the host site for the Michigan State Quester Convention.
A copy of the 2016 proposed Special Events schedule was presented as well as the
volunteer reception plan.
Other Business items and discussion:
Holiday decorations:
Three buildings are left to be decorated and Linda Trewin will assist with the
decoration.
Nankin Mills School:
The architect projected that the site for the school placement will have work
beginning in the spring of 2016. This includes foundation and moving the school.
The annual report was reviewed by members. A copy of the report has been submitted.
General Expenses 2015-2016 Trust Fund 723
Motion 012/01 it was moved by Sandi Pritchard supported by Nancy Frye that the
General Expenses for 2016 Trust Fund #723 be accepted. Motion approved (schedule
attached)
Election of officers for 2016:
Ken Bourgon presented the proposed slate of officers for 2016.
Motion 012/02 Ken Bourgon moved and supported by Sandi Pritchard that a
unanimous vote be cast for the slate as proposed:
Chairman: Barbara Mansfield
Vice-Chairman: Nancy Frye
Secretary: Linda Trewin
Treasurer: Mary Cambridge
The November 18, 2015 was adjourned at 8:04 pm.
