SYNOPSIS OF THE MINUTES OF THE 1,644REGULAR MEETING
LIVONIA CITY COUNCIL – NOVEMBER 4, 2009
Meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. Present: James McCann, Terry
Godfroid-Marecki, John Pastor, Joe Laura, Brian Meakin, Tom Robinson and Laura
Toy. Absent: None.
#437-09 Resolution by Robinson and Pastor, unanimously adopted, approving the

AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION:
Pastor thanked everyone that participated in the coat, hat and food drive. He also
thanked everyone that participated in the election and for everyone that voted for him.
McCann thanked all the candidates that put themselves on the line. He thanked
everyone for coming out. He congratulated the four (4) who won, and the other four (4)
who put out so much effort. He also congratulated Karen Tesner for her 20 years
working for the City of Livonia.
Council President Toy said that Karen started her employment with the City in 1989.
She transferred to the Clerk’s Office in 1992, was promoted to Assistant City Clerk in
1999 and appointed as Director of Legislative Affairs in 2007.
Council President Toy congratulated Jim McCann as the new Council President and
Joe Laura as the new Council Vice President. She also congratulated John Pastor and
Maureen Miller-Brosnan who will be joining the Council.
Council President Toy thanked Linda Grimsby for all her efforts in the election.
Council President Toy reminded everyone to contact their state legislators regarding the
recent budget cuts made to Livonia Public Schools.
Don Kolhoff, 14066 Mayfield, announced the Livonia Symphony Orchestra’s annual
fundraising dinner and silent auction on Friday, November 20, 2009, at Laurel Manor.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., dinner at 7:00 p.m.
The following items were received and filed: None.
The following resolutions were offered by Pastor and Meakin:

through April 29, 2010 to raise funds for operating expenses at the Livonia Opportunity
