SYNOPSIS OF THE MINUTES OF THE 1,663 REGULAR MEETING
LIVONIA CITY COUNCIL – AUGUST 25, 2010
Meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. Present: Maureen Miller Brosnan,
Conrad Schwartz, John Pastor, Brian Meakin, and Laura Toy. Absent: Joe Laura, and
James McCann.

#289-10 Resolution by Meakin and Schwartz, unanimously adopted, approving the

minutes of the 1,662 Regular Meeting of the Council held August 9, 2010.

Meakin wished his daughter Kellie Anne a belated Happy 14 Birthday; her birthday
was yesterday, August 24, 2010.
Senior Councilmember Toy asked for a moment of silence for Pam Posthumus, wife of
former Lieutenant Governor Dick Posthumus, who passed away August 18, 2010.
Pastor wished City Clerk Terry Marecki a belated Happy Birthday, her birthday was
August 24, 2010.
Mayor Kirksey introduced his granddaughter, MacKenzie Kirksey; she will be visiting for
the week.
Senior Councilmember Toy announced there was new data for Items #11 and #12.
At the direction of the Chair, Item #12 was removed from the Consent Agenda and
moved to the Regular portion of the Agenda.
At the direction of the Chair, Item #15, re: Petition 2010-06-02-12, submitted by Jeffery
A. Scott Architects requesting waiver use approval, to add drive-thru facilities to an
existing Dunkin’ Donuts Restaurant, was rescheduled to the next Regular Meeting to be
held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.
AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION: None.
The following items were received and filed:
A communication from the Department of Finance, dated July 20, 2010, re: forwarding
various financial statements of the City of Livonia for the month ending June 30, 2010.
Letters of Understanding signed by the President and Vice President of Lone Pine
Corral Inc. for the business located at 36480 Plymouth Road.

A communication from the Department of Law, dated August 20, 2010, re: clarification
on denial of drive-up window for Dairy Queen, located at 37405 Ann Arbor Road.

The following resolutions were offered by Pastor and Schwartz:
#290-10 Approving the request of Karen L. Werden, 19651 Flamingo, to hold a

terminating on August 31, 2015, unless otherwise terminated, extended or renewed.
#296-10 Approving a Sublease Agreement between the City of Livonia and Detroit

to sublease a portion of the Community Recreation Center (Adult/Sr. Lounge) and to
