:.TINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE PLA<NING COMMISSION OF

The special meeting of the Planning Commission of the
City of Livonia was held on the 9th of August, 1950, at the
City Hall, 33110 Five Mile Road.
The meeting was called to order at approximately 8:00P.M.
by the Chairman, Mr. George Bentley. All members of the Plan-
ning Commission were present with iar. V''aring and Mr. Lonnie
Brashear. Visitors were Mr. Shelden of the Shelden Land Company
and Mr. Roth, representing Shelden Land Company
The Secretary read the minutes of the third regular meet-
ing held on the 26th of July, 1950. Upon motion duly made by
Clarence Jahn, seconded by Carson Jonston, and unanimously
carried, it was
RESOL[—_,D, to accept minutes as read.
The Chairman asked the assembly if they wished the detail
minutes of the Public Hearing; held on August 2, 1950 read. Upon
motion duly made by Carson Johnston, seconded by Robert LacIntyre,
and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLV D, that the minutes of the Public Fearing
not be read.
The Secretary read a letter from ;taring & Johnson on.
duplicate street names and their recommendation.
The Secretary read Petitions ,`8, 9 and 10. Petition Val
had been withdrawn.
Upon motion duly made by Carson Johnston, seconded by
Clarence Jahn, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, to turn over to the City Attorney
Petitions :'-8, 9 and 10, and the request for
change of street name, to prepare for a
Public Hearin; but hold for additional
petitions.
Thereupon the Secretary gave the above papers to Mr. Lonnie
Brashear to deliver to the City Attorney, Mr. William Brashear.
There followed an informal discussion regarding a Civic
Center and Br. George Bentley was instructed to check with the
City Council about piece of property south of Five Nile Road.
The Secretary read a letter from N'r. Clifford C. Brown,
requesting a change of zoning to permit a I.;otel.
Upon motion duly made by Carson Johnston, seconded by
Harold Bower, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, to write a letter to the City Council
reco?im2ending, that they consider Hotels be
allowed only in commercial and industrial zoned
districts, and then only upon the approval of
the Board of Appeals.
FURTLR RESOLVED, that the City Council check
on the State Law governing ��lotels.
Hr. George Bentley brought up the matter of people rent-
ing out a room to school teachers, that many do it but feel
guilty about it.
Upon motion duly made by Carson Johnston, seconded by
Harold Bower, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, that Mr. Earing investigate ways
and means so that people in private homes
may take in roomers.
Thereupon the floor was given to Er. Shelden and Mr. Roth
who presented Plat I-9 of the Shelden Land Company, an extension
of Rosedale Garden Subdivision, and a Mast :r Plan showing Plat
y-10, which extends to Farmington Road.
After a thorough discussion b_: the assembly and considering
the fact that Shelden Land Company had their Raster Plan prior
to the proposed ordinance pertaining to 60 foot lots, upon a
motion duly made Carson Johnston, seconded by Edwin Conway,
and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, that Plat 19 of Shelden Land Company
be presented to the City Council by E. Conway with the
approval of the Planning Commission.
Er. Edwin Conway read a letter from Vgaring &:. Johnson pertain-
ing to 60 foot lots, which was shelved for the time being.
Upon a motion duly made by Edwin Conway, seconded by Harold
Bower, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, to adjourn this meeting until August
16, 1950.
