HomeMy WebLinkAboutPLANNING MINUTES 1950-10-04 59 _ MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PLANNING COPMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA The special meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Livonia was held on the 4th day of October, 1950, at the City Hall, 33110 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Pichig an. The meeting was called to order at approximately 8:00 P.M. by the Chairman, George 3entley: Roll was called with the following result : Members present: George Bentley Carson Johnston Robert Maclntyre Dallas Hay Harold Bower Helen Byers Edwin Conway Memhers absent: Clarence Jahn Walter Russell Ir. Taring, PlanningConsultant, was also present. The Secretary read the minutes of the special meeting held on the 27th day of September, 1950. Upon motion duly made by Edwin Conway, seconded by Dallas Hay, and unanimously carried, it was RESOLVED, that the minutes of the meeting held on the 27th day of September, 1950, be accepted as read. Mr. F. C. Standiford and his attorney, Er. John Hurley, appeared at the meeting. They informed the Planning Commission that the land which the Commission had tentatively proposed for a Civic Center cost them 0_0. 00 per foot. They also presented a tentative sketch of a Civic Center with less land (14 acres ) . Upon a motion duly made by Carson Johnston, seconded by Robert Macintyre, and unanimously carried, it was RESOLVED, that Mr. Standiford mail to the Secretary a statement of his selling price for 80 acres or that portion of land he owns. The Chairman appointed Harold Bower and. Dallas Hay to contact owners of that area at Farmington Road and Six Mile Road; and Edwin Conway and Robert haclntyre to check property at Schoolcraft and Farmington Roads. The Secretary presented a statement from The Livonian for advertising Notice of Public Hearing. .61 - Upon a motion duly made by Carson Johnston, seconded by Robert Eaclntyre, and unanimously carried, it was RESOLVED, that the Chairman authorize payment of statement from The Li voni an. Edwin Conway presented the proposed Newman Subdivision Plan together with Mr. Waring's opinion on same. Upon motion made by Harold Bower, seconded by Dallas Hay, and unanimously carried, it was RESOLVED, to return the Newman Subdivision Plan to the City Council together with the recommendation of 7,aring c Johnson, which had been approved by the Planning Commission. Mr. 1,aring informed the Commission of the convention being held on October 7, 1950, at the Bancroft Hotel, Saginaw, Michigan, by the Michigan Society of Municipal Planning Officials and suggested that someone attend representing our Commission. Upon a motion duly made by Edwin Conway, seconded by Carson Johnston, and unanimously carried, it was RESOLVED, that the City of Livonia Planning Commission subscribe to a membership in the Michigan Society of Municipal Planning Official, and it was FURTHER RESOLVED, that a member of this Commission attend the convention if possible. The Chairman informed the assembly that on October 11, 1950 a Public Hearing would be held at the City Hall. Upon a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was RESOLVED, to adjourn this meeting. The meeting thereupon adjourned at approximately 10:15 P.M. He en E.
