2009 SIDEWALK PROGRAM
CITY OF LIVONIA, MICHIGAN
CONTRACT 09-G
Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Livonia, Michigan as owner until
2:00 PM on Tuesday, April, 7, 2009 at the Livonia City Hall, 33000 Civic Center
Drive, Livonia, Michigan, at which time said proposals will be opened and publicly
read.
The City of Livonia seeks proposals for the following:
The removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk,
concrete curb and gutter, ramps and other related items
of work, within the City of Livonia.
Proposals, contract forms, plans and specifications under which the work will be
done may be obtained, starting Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Office of the
City Engineer, 33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan. A NOW
REFUNDABLE CHECK in the amount of Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00) ($40.00 if
mailed)will be required for each set of bidding documents obtained.
Each proposal shall be accompanied by a certified check in the amount of 5% of
the total bid, payable to the City as security for the acceptance of the contract. A
bid bond in the Michigan Standard Form issued by an approved Surety Company
may be furnished in lieu of a certified check.
No bidder may withdraw his proposal within one hundred twenty (120) calendar
days after the date set for opening thereof. The City reserves the right to reject
and bid or all bids and waive irregularities in bids.
ADDRESS ALL BIDS TO THE CITY CLERK IN A SEALED ENVELOPE
WHICH CLEARLY STATES THE NATURE OF THE BID.

Sidewalk Repair Program
CONTRACT 09-G
1. Clarification on Scattered Locations. The contractor shall provide unit prices for providing
repairs for 513 locations in Sections 1 through 36 that are not identified as the "Target Area —
Section 3" and is comprised of 36 square miles. The contractor shall also include for line item
25, Inspector Days the cost associated with the City of Livonia adding up to 50 additional, but
not to exceed 75 locations that are "Emergency Repair" that have become identified since the
program was bid. These "Emergency Repair" locations will be coordinated with the contractor
to the best extent possible to coincide with the ongoing repair work in the Section the contractor
is working in and to avoid going back to an area that was just completed.
2. SCATTERED LOCATIONS (Sections 1 thru 36): Pages FP-2 and FP-3, Revision of
quantities for line items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7,and 18. Line item 5a, Place Concrete Curb (6"to 8") was
added. Line item 7a to be placed as an Alternate Bid item and not tabulated in the Scattered Sub
Total price, it is placed at the bottom of page FP-3. As a clarification for item 7, the contractor
shall supply a 4 feet long by 2 feet wide Armor-Tile insert (color brick red) dome tile and
centered in the 6-inch concrete ramp for the first flag(25 square feet).

3. TARGET LOCATION(Section 3) - Page FP-4 and FP-5, Revision of quantities for line items
5, 6, 7, 9, 17, 18, 19 and 20. Line Item 25 for Inspector Day shall be $475, not $400. Line item
5a, Place Concrete Curb (6" to 8") was added. Line item 7a to be placed as an Alternate Bid
item and not tabulated in the Scattered Sub Total price, it is placed at the bottom of page FP-5.
As a clarification for item 7, the contractor shall supply a 4 feet long by 2 feet wide Armor-Tile
insert (color brick red) dome tile and centered in the 6-inch concrete ramp for the first flag (25
square feet).
4. Details for "Curb Removal & Replacement Detail for Sidewalk Ramp" and "Standard
Driveway Approach"were revised.
5. ADA Ramps: The City of Livonia will provide the contractor a detailed field sheet for each
intersection location for both Scattered. and Target Areas. These detailed field sheets will be
provided at the preconstruction meeting to assist the contractor in determination of the removal
and replacement of curb, sidewalk, placement of 4-inch concrete with integral curb, adjustment
of structure, etc. of each quadrant in order to repair the ramps and make them ADA compliant.
6. THE BID OPENING IS STILL SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2009 AT
2:00 PM.
