HomeMy WebLinkAboutPLANNING MINUTES 1960-01-12 2730 MINUTES OF THE 4.11TH SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA IL On Tuesday, January 12, 1960 the City Planning Commission of the City of Livonia held a Special Meeting at the Livonia City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. Mr. Angevine called the 111th Special Meeting to order at approximately 8:05 p.m. Members present: Dennis Anderson, Robert L. Angevine, Leonard Kane, H. Paul Harsha, William R. Robinson, Wilford Okerstrom and Robert Peacock Members absent: Charles Walker and Robert L. Greene Mr. McCullough, City Planner was present. Mr. McCullough announced the first item on the agenda was Petition M-164 by Joseph Cyr, requesting permission to erect a church edifice on the South side of Jamison between Middlebelt and Garden in the Northwest 1/4 of Section 24. Public Hearing held on Tuesday, August 18, 1959, item taken under advisement. Item studied at several study meetings. Mr. Joseph Cyr and Father Woelber were present. Mr. McCullough stated this special meeting had been called at the request of the petitioner for the purpose of reconsidering the previous disposition of this matter on Tuesday, December 29, 1959. A brief discussion took place relative to the legality and propriety of erecting Irafooters for the church prior to its being approvec by the Planning Commission. Upon a motion duly made by Mr. Okerstrom, supported by Mr. Rcbireen, it was #1-1-60 RESOLVED that, pursuant to a Public Hearing having been held on Tuesday, August 18, 1959, the City Planning Commission does hereby grant Petition M-184 by Joseph Cyr to build a church on the South side of Jamison between Middlebelt and Garden in the Northwest 1/4 of Section 24, subject, however, to the following conditions: (1) that the petitioner acknowledge in writing the existence of a number of physical conditions which will adversely affect the use of this land for church purposes, among which are the following: (a) a drainage ditch presently located along the right- of-way of J-.r;e c u Avenue; (b) inadequate width of the easement for Jamison Avenue; (c) the unsuitability of the existing surfacing on Jamison and other nearby streets to handle sizeable traffic volumes; and further, that the petitioner shall indicate in his letter his recognition that the municipality is under no further obligation to construct any public facilities of any nature in this vicinity or to correct any of the aforesaid conditions, and IE: FURTHER RESOLVED, notice of the above hearing was sent to property owners within 500 feet, petitioner and City Departments as listed in the Proof of Service. 2730 b A roll call vote on the foregoing resolution resulted in the following: IL AYES: Anderson, Harsha, Robinson, Okerstrom,Kane and A„gevine NAYS: Peacock The Chairman declared the motion is carried and the foregoing resolution is adopted. Upon a motion duly made by Mr. Robinson, supported by Mr. 0kkerstrom, and unanimously adopted, the 111th Special Meeting was duly adjourned at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 1960.
