MINUTES OF THE 229TH SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On Tuesday, December 20, 1966, the City Planning Commission of the
City of Livonia held its 229th Special Meeting at the
City of Livonia Planning Department office, 33125 Farmington Road,
Livonia, Michigan. Mr. Tent, Vice Chairman, called the meeting to
order at 10:30 p.m,
Members Present: Harry Wrightman Marvin Moser Donald Heusted
Raymond W. Tent Donald Pollock
John J. Ward Mrs, Mimi Singer
Members Absent: Charles W. Walker
Myra Chandler
Mr, Don Hull, City Planning Director, was also present.
Mr, Tent announced that the first item On the agenda is Petition
66-9-1-29 by James E. Mies, attorney for Byron B, and
Lillian M. Lewis requesting to rezone property located

on the south side of Six Mile Road approximately 450 feet
east of Oporto in Section 14 from RUFA to P.S.
On motion by Mr, Wrightman, seconded by Mr. Ward, the following resolution
was unanimously adopted:
#12-193-66 RESOLVED that, pursuant to a public hearing having
been held on November 1, 1966 on Petition 66-9-1-29 as
submitted by James E, Mies, attorney for Byron Band
Lillian M. Lewis requesting to rezone property located on
the south side of Six Mile Road approximately 450 feet east
of Oporto in Section 14 from RUFA to P.S., the City Planning
Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council that
Petition 66-9-1-29 be modified to cover the following portion
of the land requested to be rezoned:
380 feet south from the south right-of-way line of
Six Mile Road with a 30 foot reservation for a service
drive paralleling Six Mile Road and a 30 foot reservation
along the west boundary of the land recommended for
rezoning;
and approved as amended for the following reasons:

(1) the petition as modified conforms to a plan that will
permit the overall orderly development of the area as
indicated in detailed studies by the Planning
Commission;
(2) the proposed zoning is a logical extension of existing
zoning and existing land use and can be made compatible
with the area when coordinated with the Planning
Commission' s overall area plan;
FURTHER RESOLVED that, notice of the above public
hearing was published in the official newspaper, the
Livonian Observer and City Post, under date of
October 11, 1966, and notice of such hearing was sent
to the Detroit Edison Company, Chesapeake & Ohio Railway
Company, Michigan Bell Telephone Company, Consumers
Power Company, petitioners, and City Departments as
listed in the Proof of Service.
Mr. Tent declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted.
Mr. Tent announced that the next item on the agenda was the official
guide to be used for future developments in the area

bounded by Six Mile Road on the North, Munger on the
South; Oporto on the West and Middlebelt on the East,
On motion by Mrs. Singer, seconded by Mr. Ward, the following resolution
was unanimously adopted:
#12-194-66 RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby
adopt "Sketch A" as its official guide for future
developments in the area bounded by Six Mile Road on
the north, Munger on the south, Oporto on the West
and Middlebelt on the east,
Mr. Tent declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted.
On motion by Mr. Ward, seconded by Mr. Pollock, and unanimously adopted,
the City Planning Commission adjourned its 229th Special Meeting held
December 20, 1966 at approximately 10:40 p.m.
