Minutes of Special Voting Meeting
August 17, 2016
Called to Order: 6:05 P. M.
Present: Ralph Bakewell, Jim Kline, Don Knapp, Danielle Lewon, and Kathie Glynn
Also Present: Lindsey and Brett Hakala - homeowners 10010 Stark Rd.
Due to the fact that this is an extra voting meeting the usual agenda will not be followed.
This meeting was called at the request of the homeowners of 10010 Stark Rd. to
facilitate several imminent restoration projects.
Prior to the meeting the homeowners provided a computer generated paint scheme for
the commission to view. They also brought their computer to the meeting & provided
handouts to those who didn't have a computer.
Jim Kline proposed that each item (paint, gutters, steps) be discussed and voted on
separately.
Paint: The homeowners presented their plan for the paint scheme. They found a color
under some peeling trim paint that is very close to what they chose. A discussion
followed & questions were asked & answered. Somerset Painting & Home
Improvements will be the contractor.
Jim Kline moved & Danielle Lewon seconded a motion to approve the color scheme as
presented: Sherwin Williams Historic Collection: Base Color - Downing Sand
(SW2822); Base Trim - Rookwood Clay (SW 2823); Detail Trim - Rookwood Sash
Green (SW 2910). Motion passed unanimously.
Gutters & Downspouts: The homeowners will be using Great Lakes Gutters as the
manufacturer & installer. They brought a sample of the gutters & downspouts in the
color they have chosen. They also brought samples of a small decorative medallion &
bracket choices. The medallion (Kings Cross) will be placed at the top of each of the
front facade downspouts (4). They are also using two decorative brackets on each of
the front downspouts and plain ones on the rest of the house. A discussion followed &
questions were asked & answered.
Ralph Bakewell moved and Jim Kline seconded a motion to approve the Great Lakes
Gutters 6 inch half round gutters & circular downspouts in Dark Bronze finish, and also
the Kings Cross medallion, decorative brackets for the front facade, and plain brackets
on the remaining downspouts. Motion passed unanimously.
Front Porch Steps: The homeowners explained that the front porch deck is solid, but
the steps need replacement. Discussion followed. Questions asked & answered.
Danielle moved & Don Knapp seconded a motion to replace the existing steps with the
same riser height, stringer & tread measurements. Motion passed unanimously.
Side Porch Steps: The homeowners explained that the side porch deck is solid, but the
steps need replacement. In addition one riser is not standard height. Discussion
followed. Questions asked & answered. Danielle moved & Don Knapp seconded a
motion to replace the existing steps duplicating the tread & stringer dimensions, but
even out the riser height over the three steps. Motion passed unanimously.
Side Porch Deck Paint: The homeowners are not planning to paint the deck, but may
need to after the repairs. They have two color choices: Rookwood Clay or match the
existing paint color. Jim Kline moved and Kathie Glynn seconded a motion to approve
the paint choices as follows: Deck Paint Opt. A: Rookwood Clay; Deck Paint Opt. B:
match existing paint color. Motion passed unanimously.
