Chairperson Comments andRoundtable Discussion
The traffic signal on the first crossover east of Middle Belt over the I-96 Expressway,on the north side of
Schoolcraft, may need to be upgraded upon the opening of the Aldi grocery store to handle the extra
traffic in the area. Once construction begins it may become necessary to do a Traffic Study ofthat area.
It was also suggested that the “No Turn on Red”signs on westboundSchoolcraft turning right to
northbound Middle Belt be updated to includetwosigns. One placed at the intersection, and one in
advance of the intersection, likethe setup atwestbound Schoolcraft Road at northbound Farmington
Road. This change could possibly take place once construction of the new Aldi is completed.
The southboundexit ramp sign on the I-275 Expressway near 6 Mile Road was recently damaged and
replaced with anincorrect sign indicating turns. It has since beenreplaced with the correctsign.
Upcoming road construction projects include Farmington Road between the CSX Railroad bridge and
Plymouth Road. Select spots to thenorth, between the CSX Railroad and Schoolcraft Road, will also take
place. Additionally, the EightMile center lane construction between Farmington Road and Newburgh
Road will again commence.
The Citywide Ice Cream Social is to take placeonJune 14, 2018, from 5:30p.m. to 6:50p.m.at the
Recreation Center.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Katers and supported by Commissioner
Turbiak at 8:24 p.m.
