HomeMy WebLinkAboutSTUDY - 2018-06-04 CITY OF LIVONIA – CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF STUDY MEETING HELD JUNE 4, 2018 Meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Toy. Present: Scott Bahr, Cathy White, Kathleen McIntyre (arrived 8:40 p.m.) Brian Meakin, Jim Jolly, Brandon Kritzman, and Laura Toy. Absent: None. Elected and appointed officials present: Mark Taormina, Director of Planning and Economic Development; Todd Zilincik, City Engineer; Paul Bernier, City Attorney; Susan M. Nash, City Clerk; Lynda Scheel, Treasurer; James Inglis, Director of Housing; Linda Gosselin, City Assessor; Sharon Dolmetsch, Deputy Treasurer; Jacob Rushlow, Superintendent of Public Service; Curtis Caid, Chief of Police; and Dave Varga, Director of Administrative Services. President Toy stated that the “Okay 2 Say Program” is to help stop violence and proven to be successful and have received over 8,000 tips in the last two years. She indicated that brochures are available in the Council office. Dave Varga, Director of Administrative Services, thanked everyone that participated in the Community Build at Rotary Park. He stated it was well attended all three days. He named a few groups that helped with the project including the Rotary Club, St. Mary Mercy Hospital, the Navy Sea Cadets, the U.S. Army Recruiting, Livonia Public School staff, Stevenson High School’s girls basketball team, many City employees, people from Embassy Suites staff, Livonia Chamber staff members and members of the Chamber, a great turnout of people from the City and thanked Ted Davis and his staff for their hard work on the project. Vice-President Jolly wished his daughter, Lexie, a happy birthday. AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION: None. NEW BUSINESS: 1. BLOCK PARTY : Jim McGrail, re: to be held Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Rayburn Street, between Levan and Williams, with no rain date requested. President Toy called the petitioner to the podium. Jim McGrail, 36781 Rayburn, came to the podium to present this item to Council.
