HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2018-05-10 th MINUTES OF THE 745 REGULAR MEETING LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION th The 745 Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third-floor conference room at City Hall on Thursday, May 10, 2018; it was called to order by Chairperson Jim Policelli at 7:30 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners: Jim Policelli, Gordon Draper, Joel Turbiak, Gordon St. John, Rebekah Farabaugh and Jim Keller; Livonia Police Sergeant Brian Leigh; and City of Livonia Engineer Todd Zilincik. VISITOR: Jonathan Wood Agenda Item 1: The minutes of the April 12, 2018, meeting were reviewed. A motion to approve the minutes was made by Commissioner Draper and with the support of Commissioner St. John, it was unanimously approved that: 18-262 RESOLVED, the minutes of the April 12, 2018, meeting were approved as written. Agenda Item 2: Section 4 “STOP” signage Commissioner Turbiak attended the neighborhood association meeting informing their residents about the changes that are forthcoming, that have been reviewed the last few months for updated traffic signs. Namely “Yield” sign upgrades. Letters have been generated by the Engineering department and the Mayor’s office. They will be sent out to the HOA presidents and homeowners affected by changes on May 11, 2018. A motion was made by commissioner Draper and supported by Commissioner St. John to require the previously drafted letter by the Engineering department to be sent to only the President of the Woodbrook HOA informing of the stipulation of the intersections of Navin at Gill and Whitby at Gill, and with unanimous support it was voted upon that: 18-263 RESOLVED, the letter from the Engineering department will be sent to Woodbrook HOA. A motion was then made to formally sign Traffic Control Order (TCO) 18-2 by Commissioner Draper and with the support of Commissioner Farabaugh, it was unanimously approved that: 18-264 RESOLVED, TCO 18-2 was formally signed. Chairperson Comments & Roundtable Discussion A new citizen of Livonia, Jonathan Wood, visited the commission meeting and shared his experience and background in traffic and traffic engineering. He has offered his help if it is needed. The Commissioners had a light Question and Answer session with him and invited him to visit anytime. The citywide Ice Cream Social is to take place on June 14, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m., at the Kirksey Recreation Center. A Study Meeting will take place soon regarding the Bike Path on Hubbard between 5 Mile and 6 Mile roads. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner St. John and supported by Commissioner Draper at 8:22 p.m. NEXT MEETING: Thursday, June 14, 2018 at City Hall.
