Pleases Newburg
Church Audience
More than 3010 persons witness-
ed the Christmas concert present-
ed last Wednesday in the New-
burg church hall by the students
of Livonia Center and Newburg
Junior High schools. All were pro-
fuse in their praise for the ef-
forts of the program participants
of which there were more than 75.
The assembly heard all types
of Yuletide melodies played and
sung by groups and individuals.
Both instrumental and vocal num-
bers were well received, encores
were'the rule rather than the ex-
ception. Everyone seemed well
pleased with the smooth manner
in ' which the program was pre-
sented and received.
Groups that participated were
the Junior High School Band,
Livonia Eighth Grade, Girls' Glee
club, Newburg Boys' Glee club,
Livonia Accordion band, New-
burg Girls' chorus, Livonia Sev-
enth grade chorus and the New-
burg Girls' Christmas choir.
Directing the concert were Reg-
inald Moore, Hazel Helgemo; Hen-
ry Herrmann, Ruth Alleshouse
and Grace Breningstall. Mr.
Herrmann and Marilyn Brooker
were the accompanists.

Greenlaw Site
Workmen are completing the
task of dismantling what was left',
of the Greenlaw Apartments
which were gutted by fire during
the night of last October 5.
What wasn't destroyed by fire
is being razed to make way for a
more modern building, according
to Mrs. Charles Greenlaw. The'I
huge structure, located at 232
South Main street, was in the ear-
ly days of Plymouth, considered
one of the best built frame houses
in the city. It was the old Ben-
nett homestead.
Most of its frame work, accord -
Ing to the workmen now tearing
it down, is of 2x10 walnut. The
beautiful circular staircase also
was of walnut construction.
When the site is entirely clear
of all structure, Mrs. Greenlaw
will make plans for the future.''
She is currently considering the
idea of erecting a modern business''.
block with apartments above.
However, her plans might be
changed before spring. She defi-
nitely does not anticipate doing
any building before next summer.
The site, with its 100, feet of
frontage on Main street, would be
ideal for any kind of business
Mock. A sizeable building could
be erected there as the lot is more
than 200 feet in depth.

Mrs.- Greenlaw sometime ago
informed The Mail that she was
highly enthusiastic about putting
up 6 business block with apart-

had done little about the matter
to date.
She is cautious about building
and rightfully too, since workmen
had just completed conversion of
the large residence into four
apartments when the fire that
gutted the structure broke out.
Mrs. Greenlaw was not in her
apartment at the time but its con-
tents all were lost. Included were
many fine pieces of antique fur

Warns of Mail
Thieves, Forgers
Chief of Police Lee R. Sackett
announced this week that the
United States Secret Service at
Detroit is once again warning re-

for mail thieves and forgers, es-

Chief Sackett says, "Holidays

individuals feel they can operate''
more openly and every year many
honest merchants are victimized.
"When checks are stolen and
forged, Chief Sackett declare, it
causes many hardships for those
whom the checks were originally
intended. It sometimes require
months to get a duplicate check
because of the tin -e necessary for'..
investigation of the case. In addi-

Allen Industries
Has Small Blaze
Plymouth firemen were sum-
moned to the Allen Industries
plant early Tuesday. It was their
second run there this month. The
first alarm was on Sunday, Dec. 2.
At that time fire destroyed a por-
tion of goods that were ready for
shipment.
Tuesday's blaze was a minor
one, firemen said, and did an es-
timated $50 worth of damage to
raw and finished material. Its
origin was undetermined. The
plant's sprinkler system was set
off but little damage from water
resulted, according to firemen.
A report of game and fur -bear-
ers taken under license must be
mailed to the coservation depart-
ment, Lansing, on or before the
15th of February of each year.
Failure to report constitutes a
misdemeanor.

THERE isn't room for one more in this
bridge foursome—even for a kibitzer
... all he does is cause trouble for the players.
And one appliance too many on an elec-
trical Fircuit may be the cause of that trouble-
some blown fuse. Many people are accus-
tomed to inadequate wiring. But overloaded
circuits are not your only handicap to home
happiness if you have inadequate wiring.
It may mean improper distribution of out-
lets—not having the electric roaster where
you want it, because there's no outlet con-
venient—or maybe Dad can't plug in his
new electric shaver where he wants it. For
tomorrow's electrical living, an adequately
wired home should accommodate a new
frozen -food cabinet, electric range, auto-
matic laundry, electric dishwasher and
many other electrical appliances that will
make living more pleasant and easier. And,
of course, if your plans for tomorrow in -
dude a brand-new home, it's doubly im-
portant that your plans and specifications
be checked for adequate wiring.
This is one of a series of
advertisements prepared
in cooperation with the
electrical contractors in
your area in the interest
of insuring adequate wir-
ing for every home. When
you build or remodel, be
sure your home is prop-
erly wired. For wiring
recommendations, call
your local Detroit Edison
office.
