voters Who Have Registered and
Registered
Voted in the Past Two Years Need
Not Register For The Fall Election
Voters in Livonia Township, if
they were registered and voted
in the Presidential election two
years ago, or since, will not have
to register this fall. Livonia has
had a ,permanent registration for
the past ten years and under the
law voters are not required to
register again if they have voted
sometime during the past two
years.
Harry S. Wolfe, Township
Clerk, stated that a check of the
records was being made and
everyone who has registered in
the past two years but did not
vote will be sent a self explana-
tory card which should be filled
in and returned to the clerk. This
card on its return to the clerks -
office reinstates those registrants
who did not vote.
Those who registered more than
two years ago and have not vot-
ed in the last two years or have
never registered are required by
law to register twenty days prior
to the election November 5th,
which makes the deadline Octo-
ber 16th.
Harry S. Wolfe's office at 32398
Five Mile Road is open from 9 to
5 p.m. daily for those who wish
to register in order to vote in the
Fall election.
According to Mr. Wolfe, over
4,000 persons voted two years
ago in the Presidential election
and none of these people are re-
quired to register again, how-
ever it is estimated that there are
about 1,000 elgible persons wl-o
are not registered, but must •do
so in order to vote in November.

Enjoy Picnic
A very enjoyable day was spent
last Sunday by the Daniels fam-

spent part of the day at Cass
Benton Park where a hamburger
fry and all that goes with it was
indulged in by the picnickers.
A ball game was well under-

came and drove them back to the

The CCC Vegetable
Our most important vegetable
in the garden right now is the
tomato. It is triple C on the Vita-
min chart which puts it in the
class will oranges for vitamin
content. Make the most of them
now that you can pick them ripe
off the vines or buy them very
reasonable at the market. Be sure
you don't let your family tire of
them by serving them the same
way too often. Try a few of these
tempting variations.

"GRIND"
You save time—labor—and money when
you use an electric hammer mill to grind
your own feed. Simply fill the hopper
with grain and snap the switch—the mill
grinds automatically while you do jobs
that need your supervision! There's no
waiting for the grinder truck to come
around, no hauling grain into town to
be ground, no mill tolls, no tying up a
tractor to provide grinding power.
Just compare the costs! Farmers tell us
that tractor power averages over $ 1.00
per ton of feed for fuel alone. Electricity
will do the same work for 30 cents. And
you'll have fresher, better feed when you
grind your own. There's an electric ham-
mer mill to fit every budget.
Ask your Edison Farm Service Advisor
to arrange a demonstration for you—not
in a salesroom, but on a farm, where you
can talk over performance and actual
operating costs with its owner. While
you're at it, ask the Edison man to help
plan your long-range program for
letting electricity do other chores too!
There's no obligation to you.

Vho's the Big Boss of any business? That's easy—the person
or persons who otvh the business?
In the case of Michigan Bell; our Big Boss is "Mrs. Richard
1 Roe" and thousands of other thrifty folks who have invested
in Bell System securities and provided the money for enlarg-
ing the system and improving the service.
Now let's see what Mrs. Roe's investment helped brake pos.
sible. Here are just a few examples:
• From 1920 through 1945, it has permitted the Bell
System to increase the number of telephones in service
from S tnillion to 22 million — almost 16 telephones for
every hundred people in the United States.
• It has provided the facilities for handling a record-
breaking billion and a half toll calls in 1945, compared to
360 million in 1920.
• It has financed the development and installation of dial
telephone equipment so that now 4 out of 5 telephones in
Michigan, for example, are dial operated.
• It has paid for the construction of 75 million miles of
wire and cable throughout the nation, and accomplished
many other improvements too numerous to mention.
If this progress is to continue—more money will have to be
obtained from more investors through the sale of additional
Bell System securities. And, since investors naturally want a
fair return on their savings, telephone rates should be sufficient
to permit paying a reasonable rate of return.
Michigan Bell's "cost of living"; like yours, has been rising
rapidly. If it continues to go up, rate increases may become
necessary to insure adequate earnings. In any event, Michigan
Bell wants telephone rates no higher—and no lower—than
necessary to operate the business efficiently ... pay good wages
... give a fair return to ihvestors and, thereby, protect the
future quality of the service we give you.
