Free Candy—No Damage
Earl J. Burt really gets co-
operation from the kids in the
Inkster -Joy Road section during
Hallowe'en. There is practically
no window soaping and no dam-
age done. It does cost Earl a
little. For he gave 250 bags of
candy away to the kiddies last
year and this year gave about
350.
Mystery
Two bicycles, a man's and
woman's, were found in the
woods at the north east corner of
Middlebelt and Five Mile Road.
The tires on the women's bike
had bullet holes in them. The
serial numbers of both bikes
were given to the State Police.
Thus far a family in, Livonia is
two bikes richer.
Dog Poor
Harry Schramm, 34616 Pine
Tree, was given until November
4 to get rid of 10 of the 11 dogs
he had at his home, by Justice

last week. A complaint was made
by the neighbors concerning the
dogs.

All who saw them at Plymouth
agreed that Livonia would soon
make a name for itself through-

SOME DAY these good times will be over!
SOME DAY production will catch up with

SEVENTH GRADE
The boys baseball team from
Mrs. Kimball's class has lost to
Coonville •and Wallaceville and
were the victors over Hicks this
fall. The boys work fine together
and are really good sports - win
or lose, in spite of the fact that
they are playing against teams
of eighth graders for the most
part. The girls' baseball team
lost its first game to Coonville,
but the season is still "young"
and they are hopeful. The class
has been working on a unit in
studying and learning leaves and
have made a nice collection for
spatter prints. They are now
working on a unit of fish from all
over the world.
Try one of the seventh grade's
tongue -twisters: Soldiers shoul-
ders shudder when shrill shells
shriek.
Service Squad
Cooper School now has a ser-
vice squad patrol whose duty it
is to assist the teachers in manag-
ing the halls and lavatories dur-
ing passing periods. The follow-
ing ten girls were selected:' Paul-
ine Huber, Captain; Barbara
Bynen, Eileen Hawley, Barbara
Ferrari, Lieutenant; Trudie Van -
Mather, Shirley Mearnic, Phyl-
lis Eplett, Shirley Fradette, De-
lores Manke and Beverly Bu-
chanan.
Alumni of Cooper School are
now attending several high
schools, naively Plymouth,
George Bentley, and Lowrey and
Fordson in Dearborn as well as
Wayne High School. At Plymouth
High, Lydia Finetti has been
made editor-in-chief of the An-
nual. Wesley Potts and Ronnie
Potts are members of the band.
Rita Datcher was elected treasur-
er of the tenth grade, and Max
Stevens plays football for the
Plymouth Rocks. There are 39
students from Cooper attending
Plymouth High.
The Chicago Women's Sym-
phony Orchestra under the direc-
tion of Bohumir Kryl is present-
ing a concert at the Plymouth
High School November 7. Tickets
are $1.20 for adults and 60c for
students. Tickets may be obtain-
ed from any member ,of the chor-
us. Dorothy Dickson and Gloria
Alrich are members of the chorus
from Cooper.
Twenty-four Former Cooper
students are attending Lowrey
and Fordson. At Lowrey are
Edward Reiff, Thomas Pawlow-
ski, Patricia Prehn, Jack Vess,
Julian Mossman, George Lincoln,
Rose Marie Pawlowski, Helen
Nilsson and Delores Rich. Others
include Richard Berger, James
Williamson, Mildred Smith, Rob-
ert McInturff, Mae Bailey, Sher-
man Boss, Nils Nilsson and Alice
May. Alice is confined to St.
Joseph's Hospital as a result of
an accident, but is improving
nicely. Her many friends hope
she will soon be home.
At Fordson High this term are
Fredric Miller, Floyd Prehn,
June McCall,. Bettie Chatel,
Bunny VanByoren and Marilyn
Rivers.

Safety Pa'roi News
Cooper School Safety Patrol
now has the assistance of the
Wayne County Sheriff's Patrol,
located at the corner of Ann Ar-

asked to attend a recent meeting
of the Safety Patrol. He gave a
very instructional talk on the
correct manner of conducting
children across a busy highway.
The leaders of the Safety Patrol

A check was made on October 13
and the following week neighbors
started making complaints that

In the course of the examina-

the addition had been started the

stated that it was started October

from each school, Superinten-
dent Johnson, and Mr. McCann
met at Livonia Center to prepare
the agenda for the first full
groups meeting November 5. All
interested people are invited to
this meeting at 2:45 p.m. in Bent-
ley High School.
Some of the major objectives
of this training program include
a better understanding of newer
instructional practices by both
teachers and parents; construe
tion of curriculms that meet the
needs of all Livonia boys and
girls, the utilization of all edu-
cational agencies, including home,
church, school, movies, libraries,
health services and others in the
environment.
This type of cooperative pro-
gram has proved successful in
many of the outstanding schools
of this country. However, in-
structional practices cannot be
selected wisely until it is known
what type of individual is being
developed, and it is only through
