chiatrist of the Wayne . County
General hospital at ,Eloise, was
the guest speaker at the Novem-
ber meeting of the Livonia
Health guild, held November 12
at the Rosedale Gardens school.
His topic- "How to Prevent Men-
tal Illness" was of interest to all.
Dr. Koren pointed out that one
half of the hospital beds in the
United States are filled with
mental patients. If all those who
really should be hospitalized
were there, he added, there
would not be enough facilities to
take care, of them. The attitude
of the families to delay treat-
ment often makes the illness
chronic, he stated. Like other ill-
nesses, if this can be treated in
its early stage, the hope for re-
covery is much greater than if
delayed.
Psychosis is divided into two

honored Saturday evening, No-
vember 15, at Wilcox school, at
the monthly adult dance.
During the evening, Dr. Marie "

Thanksgiving, the day for cele-
bration and feasting is right
around the corner. It's especially
pleasing to students—no school.
The Junior class of- Plymouth
High school presented a three
act play called "We Shook .the
Family Tree" last Wednesday
and Thursday evenings in the
High school auditorium. This was
a play about the hilarious mix-
ups and capers of modern teen-
agers. Barb Goodbold and Dick
Wylie from the Township played
the. leading roles of Hildegarde
and Freddie. The audience was
large both nights.
Last Tuesday the Student
council of Bentley High toured
Redford Union High school. They
in turn invited the Redford Union
student council to come to Bent-
ley High school at a later date.
Wednesday evening, the par-
ents had a program at Bentley
High school at which the High
school band played two numbers.
Last Friday evening a dance
was held for the teen agers at the
Rosedale Club house.
The Hi -Y club of Plymouth
High sponsored a "Basketball
Dance" in the High school gym
last Friday evening. Sod Schaf-
fer's orchestra from Detroit fur-
nished the music.
The Romulus High school bas-
ketball squad came to Plymouth
last Friday afternoon for a prac-
tice game with the Rocks.: They
played in Plymouth's gym.
The Senior Prom which is
forthcoming at Plymouth High
has had the name "Snow Frolic"
tacked on it. This is one of the
two formal dances sponsored by
the Junior and Senior classes of
Plymouth High school.
That's all kids!

THE AMERICAN
Thanks to "the American Way," the people of this Country enjoy --greater
freedom — greater happiness -- greater opportunity.
Never before have the benefits from our American way of life loomed
so big to the people of the rest of the world, nor have our people had a
better opportunity to evaluate their great worth.
Thanksgiving Day this year should mean more to every American. Not
only should we join in remembering those early pioneers who gave thanks to
God for their deliverance from want and oppression but we should also take
into account our high standard of living as compared with the people of
the rest of the world.
Few men, if any, would exchange their position here, no matter what
their job may be, for the grief and limited opportunity that is held out to
them in almost any other country in the world.
Here in America we can still create, build, develop and promote our
individual ideas for the betterment and advancement of ourselves and all
our people.
Let's keep it that way. Let's keep the American Way safe, by guarding

That's what Jim said after the first meal on our new
electric range. And ' he's right. Postwar electric
ranges art a vast improvement over older models.
Ovens are better insulated. Heating units are, more
efficient. That means even faster cooking,... lower cost.
You save extra time, too, with the automatic control
that starts and stops your range by itself. Why, you .
can go shopping all day and have supper ready to serve
when you return. And there's no heating up the
kitchen ... no soot or smoke to bother about.
These easy-to-use electric ranges are
in stock right now at your local
l dealers. Be sure to see them soon,

Day Camp Staff
Honored At Tea
The Livonia Girl Scout coun-
cil, with Mrs. Perkins as chair-
man, entertained the Girl Scout
Day Camp staff on November 11.
Mrs. Max McKinney, director
of the day camp, was honored at
the tea which was held at Rose-
dale Gardens school. Thirty-five
members, approximately, were
present for the affair. Films of
the day camp were shown by Mrs.
Lloyd Nelson.
Tea was served from a table
covered with a green table cloth,
decorated with yellow mums and
napkins with the brownie and
girl scout seal.
Alice Paul Council
Meets at Hartung Home
The evening committee of the
Alice Paul council of the National
Women's party, recently met at
the home of Mrs. Eunice Hartung
to discuss political devices. The
members were well pleased with
the attendance and happy about
the new interpretation of the gov-
ernment.
During the discussion it was
brought out that we should use
as our yardstick in determining
equality whether the problem is
expressed as man versus woman
or person versus persona
