Present: Deanna Brown, Carrie Budzinski, Mary Cambridge, Lindsey Hakala, Barbara Mansfield, Stephanie Miner, Gary Pritchard, Sandi Pritchard Other Attendees: Emily Tchorz-Fielder I. Review & Approval of Minutes: Lindsey Hakala, Secretary November 20, 2019 Voting minutes reviewed. Motion 2020-02-01: S. Pritchard made a motion to approve the minutes and M. Cambridge seconded it. Minutes approved unanimously January 15, 2020 non-voting amended minutes reviewed. Motion 2020-02-02: B. Mansfield made a motion to approve the minutes and M. Cambridge seconded it. Minutes approved unanimously. II. Treasurer’s Reports: Mary Cambridge, Treasurer The January 2020 Report of Expenses was presented. The report is attached. III. Reports: Commissioners reports of activities, building reviews, participation: a. Chairman’s report (Stephanie Miner): i. Attended the STEPS Meeting held on February 6th. Some ideas were discussed to get Greenmead in view of the public. A suggestion was made throughout other local historic museums to create a “passport” and have visitors receive stamps for each museum attended. b. Deanna Brown: c. Carrie Budzinski: i. Volunteered for Frozen Fun in January; the event went well ii. Library is interested in doing three more event days here iii. Sent some dates to City Council for them to visit and tour the museum iv. She is meeting with Mayor on 3/5 d. Mary Cambridge: i. Worked 26 hours in January: Farmhands house, hill house, pricing jewelry ii. Farmhands house is mostly done, should be up and running soon e. Barbara Mansfield: i. Collected jewelry for jewelry sale ii. Office flash drives ordered so that there won’t be any more issues with speakers unable to connect to projectors IV.. Greenmead Supervisor Report: Emily Tchorz-Fielder i. Maintenance Update: 1. Stained glass windows just got removed for restoration. Only two weddings should be impacted; they were informed ahead of time of the possible interference. 2. Jeff is to research ways to preserve the windows after they’re restored 3. Hinbern roof was replaced in early February 4. Hinbern porch handrails were reinforced. They are taller than standard size steps; we should consider reducing it to standard sizing to increase accessibility. 5. Quite a few buildings have water in the basement; reached out to a few companies for quotes and not many have called back a. Hinbern basement had a few cracks repaired 6. Hill house has had issues with red squirrels; called animal removal services. 7. Caretaker’s cottage has a furnace again 8. Hill House’s water heater has been replaced. 9. Cornerstone Painting is painting the Hill House; issues with previous restoration not removing wallpaper paste, causing discoloration. They will be repainting walls in the dining room, map room, and the parlor. 10. Boy Scouts will continue to paint this summer ii. Rental Income to Date (Since December 2019): 1. Church: $2,135 2. Meeting House: $1,230 iii. Budget Status of the Trust Fund: $222,350.49 is available. iv. LHC City Funds: $8,917.05 v. Planning Department was giving away office equipment; we received a flat storage cabinet, to be stored in the schoolhouse basement. vi. Flea Market advertising: Discussed purchasing an ad in Auction Exchange and Collectors News. Considering the cost of the ad for one week, it was deemed not worth it given the number of people reached. 1. Portrait of Sue Daniel to be hung in the school house. Motion 2020- 02-03 B. Mansfield made the motion and S. Pritchard seconded it to spend up to $1000 for this endeavor. IV. Review of Events & Planning for Future Events: a. Livonia Historical Society Speaker, January 20, 2020: had technical issues but otherwise great story. b. Frozen Fun, January 25, 2020: Sold out. Some room for improvement but otherwise a great new event. c. Valentine’s Day Tea, February 8, 2020: Sold out. Event went very well. d. Livonia Historical Society Speaker, March 16, 2020: Upcoming. Subject is Early Settlers in Michigan e. Happily Ever After, March 26, 2020: upcoming. “Generational” themed (grandmother, mother, daughter); ticket sales moving faster than normal. f. Jewelry Sale, April 25, 2020: Upcoming. V. Additional Business & Action Items: a. Social Media Report: Carrie Budzinski i. Social media reach last month was 223,238 (up 1200% from previous month). We have 3722 likes, 3902 followers. Flea market alone was shared over 700 times already. b. Mayor/City Counsel Visit Update: i. Brandon McCollough coming out to visit in April ii. Carrie to meet with mayor April 5th; she will suggest that the Mayor visit each commission meeting once. c. Livonia Community Foundation Grant Ceremony will be held Thursday, March 26 at 7pm. Emily and Stephanie to attend. d. Paying for Archiving: i. Motion 2020-02-04 M. Cambridge made a motion and D. Brown seconded it to approve up to $6000 to contractually hire someone to archive our files. It was passed unanimously. e. Historical Conference to be held March 27-28 in Sterling Heights. Emily and Carol will be attending. f. State of the City to be held April 23rd at Burton Manor. 1. Motion 2020-02-05 B. Mansfield made a motion and C. Budzinski seconded it to approve up to $150 for 6 people to attend. It was unanimously approved. g. Other: The next non-voting meeting will be held Wednesday March 18, 2020 Adjournment: Motion 2020-02-06 S. Pritchard made the motion and D. Brown seconded it to adjourn the meeting.
