HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2021-07-08 th MINUTES OF THE 778 REGULAR MEETING LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION thth The 778 Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the 5 Floor Gallery of City Hall on Thursday, July 8, 2021; it was called to order by Chairperson Jim Policelli at 7:30 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners: Jim Policelli, John Katers, Jim Keller, Yara Racine, Rebekah Farabaugh and Sgt. Scott Sczepanski of the LPD Traffic Bureau ABSENT: Gordon St. John, City Engineer Todd Zilincik VISITORS: Residents Sam Boyea and Michael Shaffer Agenda Item 1: The minutes of the meeting held on June 10, 2021 were reviewed No corrections were brought forth. Therefore, a motion was made by Commissioner Katers, supported by Chairperson Policelli, to approve the June minutes as written. It was voted upon unanimously that, 20-328 RESOLVED, the minutes from the meeting held on June 10, 2021 were approved as written Agenda Item 2: Speeding in the vicinity of Golfview and Grove Streets Residents have noticed a heavy volume of traffic that travel at excessive speeding east of Levan and south of 6 Mile Road. It was noted that between 3-8 p.m. is the worst time for traffic. There are 13 children that currently reside in the neighborhood and they are worried about their safety. They are requesting the installation of a “Stop” sign. Per the Traffic Bureau, there haven’t been any collisions in the area. Sgt. Sczepanski will place a speed monitor box in the next few weeks and increase patrols in the area. The Commissioners also discussed adding reflective tape to the current “Yield” signs on the corners of Golfview and Grove, as well as Fairway Street and Grove. Agenda Item 3: Speeding and Traffic Issues on Mayfield Street (Follow Up) The Soccer Club have placed signs in the area to inform their participants to be respectful of the neighbors and to reduce their speeds. Per the Traffic Bureau, the Traffic Control Order (TCO) instructing speed limit signs and reflective tape has been executed.
