ALEXANDER BLUE HOUSE Present: Mary Cambridge, Diann Dupuis, Lindsey Hakala, Deanna Brown Absent: N/A Other Attendees: Maureen Casey, Emily Tchorz-Fielder Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by D. Brown. I. Review of Correspondence – None II. Review of Minutes a. October Voting Minutes Motion 1101: L. Hakala made a motion to approve, M. Cambridge seconded. It was unanimously approved. III. Treasurer’s Report a. October Report i. Income: $8460.45 ii. Expenses $464.77 iii. Preservation $6972.75 Motion 1102: L. Hakala made a motion to approve, M. Cambridge seconded. It was unanimously approved. IV. Commissioner’s Report of Activities in October: a. Deanna Brown i. Halloween walk; harvest festival b. Diann Dupuis i. Worked 25 hours; online sales for jewelry; Highland tea food c. Mary Cambridge i. Worked about 3 hours: jewelry pricing V. Greenmead 365: a. No meeting recently? VI. Maintenance Report a. Bungalow i. Got an estimate for $68,000 (very high); waiting for more bids ii. Door install awaiting part order b. Kingsley – Window in basement replaced; a new one is onsite awaiting installation c. Schoolhouse – Patched drywall & painting d. Church i. Patched drywall & painting ii. Roof ridges to be addressed soon e. Hill House – (sunroom) To be painted next week f. North Barn –Track is still in the Pacific somewhere g. Blue House – Ramp to kitchen is replaced; used cement (mostly due to groundhogs); railing should be going up in the next week. VII. Elections – Board of 2022 a. Chair – D. Brown b. Vice Chair – D. Dupuis c. Treasurer – M. Cambridge d. Secretary – L. Hakala Motion 1103: M. Cambridge made a motion to approve the slate as noted, L. Hakala seconded. It was unanimously approved. VIII. Meeting Schedule for 2022 a. January 19 – Voting b. February 16 – No meeting c. March 16 – Voting d. April 20 – No meeting e. May 18 – Voting f. June 15 – Voting g. July 20 – No meeting h. August 17 – Voting i. September 21 – No meeting j. October 19 – No meeting k. November 16 – Voting l. December 21 – No meeting Motion 1104: M. Cambridge made a motion to accept the 2022 schedule as written, L. Hakala seconded. It was unanimously approved. IX. Review of Events: a. Halloween Walk (Oct. 22-23) – Positive feedback on decorating and candy; Good turnout; b. Highland Tea (Nov. 6) – Went well; had chair of Highland games come to the tea; We should up the price given the increase in price of food and other things offered; Had a 4.7 rating; great dancer c. Life When It’s Snowy (Nov. 13) – Sold out (15 kids); Lisa and Mike from Metroparks (Lisa to return in March); kids were very involved; Only cost $100 to put on X. Upcoming Events: a. Treasure from Grandma’s Attic (Nov. 19-20) b. Santa Stroll (Dec. 4 \[1-4pm\]) c. Night of Lights (Various weekends) d. Volunteer Thank you in January (26; 2-4 & 6:30-8:30); gifts could be umbrellas? Coffee & desserts (and fruit) XI. New Business: a. What programs/activities would the commission like to offer in 2022? i. Picnic on the grounds (July?) – Purchase a blanket to “get in”, possibly boxed lunches, field day events and crafts ii. Art Day – Classes for painting, kids and adults; art show; desserts or lunch? iii. Murder Mystery Dinner iv. Presidential Tea / First Lady Tea v. Women of the Lights vi. Native American story around a fire pit XII. Vision21 Goals: What do we focus on first and how do we accomplish the goal? a. Engage visitors in positive learning experiences about Livonia’s history through tours and programming. b. Expand outreach to schools, libraries, and non-profits through presentations, publications, or traveling exhibits. c. Develop exhibits to reach a broader audience and attract new visitors to Greenmead. d. Transfer documentation of artifacts from paper to digital records utilizing Past Perfect and providing online access to our archives. XIII. Walk-On Items: a. Lindsey offers to do a site plan if someone can give me a survey. Adjournment: M. Cambridge made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m. and L. Hakala seconded it. It was unanimously approved.
