MINUTES OF THE 786th REGULAR MEETING

The 788 Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the 5 Floor Gallery of
City Hall on Thursday, June 9, 2022; it was called to order by Chairperson Jim Policelli at
7:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Jim Policelli, John Katers, James Keller, Yara Racine, Gordon St. John, and Sgt.
Scott Sczepanski of the LPD Traffic Bureau
ABSENT: Rebekah Farabaugh, City Engineer Todd Zilincik
VISITORS: None
Agenda Item 1: The minutes from the May 12, 2022 meeting were reviewed
No corrections were brought forth. Therefore, a motion was made by Commissioner Katers,
supported by Chairman Policelli, to approved the May 12, 2022 minutes as written. It was vote
upon unanimously that,
20-346 RESOLVED, the minutes from the May 12, 2022 meeting
were approved as written
Agenda Item 2: Hathaway Street Speeding Complaint (Follow Up)
During the May Commission meeting, resident Mike Hesse, who resides on Hathaway between
Farmington and Stark, was very concerned about the multiple occasions of excessive speeders
on his street. Since the last meeting, the Traffic Bureau of the Livonia Police Department has
been able to take a traffic speed study on the street provided data. Sgt. Sczepanski noted that

the average speed is 22.57 mph, the 50 percentile was 22.69 mph, and the 85 percentile was
26.89 mph. The total volume of cars considered in this study was 3116, with the average
number of vehicles being 389.5
Based on the traffic data, no further action will be taken outside of requested police
enforcement. This motion was made by Commissioner Katers, and supported by Commissioner
St. John

Updates/Comments:
Commissioner Katers reported that nearby the Divine Child Church/School in Dearborn were
given a series of signs and traffic calming devices. The Commissioners discussed the
information at hand and felt it could be helpful for traffic in Livonia. More details will be obtained
in the coming months
Motion to Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 8:17 p.m. with a motion made by Commissioner Katers,
supported by Commissioner St. John
