HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, May 17, 2022 – 7:00 p.m.
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by Chair Glover. Members Present:
Richard Glover, Becky Drzwewicki, Haitham Fakhouri, Carmen Kennedy-Rogers
Not Present: Kris Krandall, Wafa Dinaro, and Nick Clark
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda for the May 17,2022 meeting was approved unanimously.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes for the April 4, 2022 meeting were approved unanimously.
IV. CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT
a. Inclusion Round Table – co-hosted with Livonia Business Chamber; hosted at
MASCO; very engaging experience; attended by city officials, business owners,
community members
b. Ice Cream Social -- Date June 16th; Commissioners Drzwewicki and Fakhouri will
attend; hosted at the Livonia Recreation Center
c. HRC Commission Membership Update: Kris Krandall will return on June 1st;
two other residents are being considered by Chair Glover and Mayor Brosnan
d. Inclusivity Statement - Mayor Brosnan requested HRC to create a statement
regarding statement present in City properties/buildings - a workplace policy
focused on inclusivity/DEI; two versions will be be created - short version and
long version; Commissioner Wafa Dinaro provided a draft statement; 1st draft
was shared and discussed with HRC commissioners who were present at the
meeting; Chair Glover will share with Mayor Brosnan next week.
e. Summer HRC Engagements - important to be present at different engagements
V. Guest: Caitlin Witt - Livonia Police Department, Crisis Clinician (Embedded Clinician) and
Sergeant Stacy Hayne
Key Highlights:
● Main focus is mental health calls/experiences
● Currently the only mental health professional; will access after 1st year
● Ms. Witt is a licensed professional counselor
● Takes non-emergency mental health calls in addition to emergency mental
health calls
● Livonia Police Department (LPD) Partnership Program: Ms. Witt is an employee
with Hegara Community Mental Health; In LPD - Sergeant Stacy Hayne is the
supervisor
● Still determining program success/impact metrics - partnership with Wayne
State University School of Social Work; for research and data collection

Connecting with person from Westland in the near future - learn more about what is
going on in other communities
Commissioner Carmen Kennedy-Rogers
Connecting with Schoolcraft College and Livonia Public Schools

Chair Glover met with Steve Spreitzer (Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion)
to discuss future plans

No updates.
IX. New Business
Commissioner Drzwewicki met with Library Commission - Kacie McCullough
● Working to coordinate Summer Diversity Book Reading Experience (DEI for Children)
● HRC attend, promote experience/engagement
X. Audience Communication
No audience present.
Meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
