HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-01-09 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD January 9, 2023 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, January 9, 2023 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Roll was called with the following present: Members Present: Brett Gierak Rich Skaggs Valerie Jackson Greg Jones Candy Little Others Present: Felicia Jenkins, 19157 Inkster Rd. Approval of Minutes dated December 5, 2022 Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6310 01/23 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 5, 2022 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Jackson, Little 2. Letter dated January 6, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Felicia Jenkins, 19157 Inkster Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6311 01/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Jenkins the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective January 9, 2023 a Six (6) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD January 9, 2023 The Chairman declared the motion carried. 3. Letter dated January 6, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Reginald Rumpz, 9084 Knolson Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6312 01/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Rumpz the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective January 9, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. At the request of the petitioner, the account at 9084 Knolson will be put on a “payment plan”, whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. If required, an M2 reading device will be installed at the residence within the next thirty days. During the Twelve (12) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 4. Letter dated January 4, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Teddy Stanley, 18867 Lathers Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6313 01/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Stanley the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective January 9, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Letter dated January 4, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jameeka Austin, 28875 Westfield Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6314 01/23 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the January 9, 2023 meeting. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. CONSENT AGENDA 6. Letter dated December 16, 2022 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Danielle Burstall, 9841 Garvett Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6315 01/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective January 9, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Madison Merzlyakov from the GLWA gave the Water & Sewer Board an update and review of the WRAP program. The next meeting of the Water and Sewer Board is scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2023 at 5:00pm. Upon a motion by Rich Skaggs, seconded by, Candy Little, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45pm.
