HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-02-06 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD February 6, 2023 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, February 6, 2023 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Approval of Minutes dated January 9, 2023 Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6322 02/23 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held January 9, 2023 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Jackson, Little 2. Letter dated January 26, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Bonnie McGarry, 9179 Knolson Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6323 02/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. McGarry the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective February 6, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. At the request of the petitioner, the account at 9179 Knolson will be put on a “payment plan”, whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. If required, an M2 reading device will be installed at the REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD February 6, 2023 residence within the next thirty days. During the Twelve (12) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 3. Letter dated February 3, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Wayaam Hanna, 37569 Five Mile Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6324 02/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Hanna the Water Board voted to take no action and defer the customer’s request to adjust the estimated usage calculation to the Finance Department as the Board and the Water Billing department are required to calculate such estimates by City Ordinance and have no authority to deviate from that formula. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 4. Letter dated January 25, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Thelma Battjes, 15141 Blue Skies Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6325 02/23 RESOLVE, that after reviewing Ms. Battjes request to the Water and Sewer Board to adjust her excessive bill that was the result of the city’s Road Replacement Program’s contractor severing her sprinkler system line. The Water Board agreed to adjust the bill as follows:  -$368.47 over average adjustment  -$95.01 late penalty waived. REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD February 6, 2023  The $120 sprinkler company charge will be submitted to the City’s insurance adjuster once received. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 5. Consent Items: a. #WS 6326 02/23 Letter dated December 18, 2022 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Ed Heaney, 33116 Lyndon – Granted a Nine (9) month penalty-free extension b. #WS 6327 02/23 Letter dated January 25, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Denise Runge, 34636 Pinehurst – granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. The Board also granted the removal of the penalty dated December 14, 2022 in the amount of $152.30. c. #WS 6328 02/23 Letter dated February 2, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Robert Gibson, 32227 Wisconsin - Granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. d. #WS 6329 02/23 Letter dated January 26, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Karen Shameri, 36535 Marler - Granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. e. #WS 6330 02/23 Letter dated January 20, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Joanne Sylvester, 9200 Harrison - Granted a six (6) month penalty-free extension. f. #WS 6331 02/23 Letter dated January 13, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jamie Jewell, 15900 Merriman - Granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. The Board also granted the removal of the penalty dated December 14, 2022 in the amount of $61.43. g. #WS 6332 02/23 Letter dated February 1, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Raschaad Jones, REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD February 6, 2023 18972 Filmore - Granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. h. #WS 6333 02/23 Letter dated February 1, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Sandy Abrahamian, 20220 Parker - Granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. The Board also granted the removal of the penalty dated January 13, 2023 in the amount of $53.50. i. #WS 6334 02/23 Letter dated February 1, 2023 from Supervisor of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Paige Musleh, 31710 Fairfax - Granted a Twelve (12) month penalty-free extension, no roll to 2023 taxes. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motions carried. The next meeting of the Water and Sewer Board is scheduled for Monday, March 6, 2023 at 5:00pm. Upon a motion by Greg Jones, seconded by, Candy Little, the meeting was adjourned at 5:40pm.
