HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-07-10 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD July 10, 2023 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, July 10, 2023 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Approval of Minutes dated May 1, 2023 Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6373 07/23 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 1, 2023 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Jackson, Little 2. Letter dated July 7, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Lisa Sandau, 16080 Hubbard Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6374 07/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Sandau the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated June 19, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jonathan Deane, 15061 Lyons Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6375 07/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Deane the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. At the request of the petitioner, the account at 15061 Lyons will be put on a “payment plan”, whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. If required, an M2 reading device will be installed at the residence within the next thirty days. During the Twelve (12) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 6/14/23 in the amount of $149.30. Letter dated June 8, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Charise Samuels, 37716 Lancaster Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Rich Skaggs REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD July 10, 2023 #WS 6376 07/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Samuels the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. At the request of the petitioner, the account at 37716 Lancaster will be put on a “payment plan”, whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. Petitioner is reuqired to pay a minimum of $150 per month towards past due amount, plus water usage charges for the previous thirty days. During the Twelve (12) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. If conditions are met, Petitioner may return after twelve months for additional time. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 6/14/23 in the amount of $394.33. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 5. Letter dated July 7, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Nichole Hagood, 19150 Canterbury Dr Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6377 07/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Hagood the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated June 21, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Tim Cullen, 15765 Whitby Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6378 07/23 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the July 10, 2023 meeting. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 7. Letter dated June 19, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Carmen Oliver, 10011 Seltzer Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6379 07/23 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the July 10, 2023 meeting. Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6381 07/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Letter dated May 23, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - David Boucher, 14158 Berwick Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6382 07/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 06/14/23 in the amount of $180.47. Letter dated June 20, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Namira Anani, 18603 Flamingo Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6384 07/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 04/13/23 in the amount of $81.94. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated May 6, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jeff Hickson, 37920 Donald Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6391 07/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 10, 2023 a Six (6) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2024 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement.
