HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-08-07 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD August 7, 2023 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, August 7, 2023 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Roll was called with the following present: Members Present: Brett Gierak Rich Skaggs Greg Jones Candy Little Members Absent: Valerie Jackson Others Present: Jason LaMontagne, 18248 Pershing Jen Schilk, Accountant II Dana Kemp, Account Clerk I Jill Russell, Secretary III 1. Approval of Minutes dated July 10, 2023 Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6392 08/23 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held July 10, 2023 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Little 2. Letter dated July 7, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jason LaMontagne, 18248 Pershing Motioned by Candy Little seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6393 08/23 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. LaMontagne the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 7/13/23 in the amount of $90.70. Letter dated July 11, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Diane Maxwell, 15101 Fairfield Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6394 08/23 that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the August 7, 2023 meeting. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 4. Letter dated July 11, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - John Booker, 8921 Melvin Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6395 08/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Letter dated July 11, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Robert Johnson, 11001 Arden REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD August 7, 2023 Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6396 08/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. Letter dated July 31, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Rashad Sterling, 19308 Rensellor Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6397 08/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 7/13/23 in the amount of $74.80. Letter dated July 11, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Kelli Williams, 27495 Six Mile Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6398 08/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated July 12, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Mark Maskill, 31118 Orangelawn Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6399 08/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Three (3) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated July 18, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Meisha Campbell, 31629 Norfolk Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Candy Little #WS 6400 08/23 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective August 7, 2023 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2023 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated 6/13/23 in the amount of $72.98. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. The next meeting of the Water and Sewer Board is scheduled for Monday, September 11, 2023 at 5:00pm. Upon a motion by Greg Jones, seconded Candy Little, the meeting was adjourned at 5:20 pm.
