It was voted upon unanimously that, 20-390 RESOLVED, the minutes from the April 11, 2024 were approved as written Agenda Item 2: Sign Changes and Safety Requests from Fairway Farms HOA Lauren Grewe, President of Fairway Farms HOA, expressed the desire of her neighbors to extend a “No Parking” zone to alleviate congestions at the corn of Ladywood and Levan Roads. Ms. Grewe noted that during drop off and pickup times at the school, the area gets quite congested and individuals on foot who wish to cross the road have difficulty doing so due to how closely the vehicles are often parked at the corner. Upon discussing it was noted that a similar problem exists on Ladywood, east of Levan. Currently, that area has “No Parking” signage. Sgt. Walters stated that he could send enforcement patrols for that particular issue. For Levan Road, south of Ladywood, a “No Parking” zone was proposed. A motion was made by Commissioner Katers, supported by Commissioner Wrenbeck, to add a ”No Parking” (R 8-3) sign at the northeast corner of Levan Road and Ladywood Street, with a supplemental sign stating “No Standing or Stopping” to face northbound traffic. Additionally, a “No Parking” (R 8-3) with similar supplemental signage will be placed on the east side of Levan, 75 feet south of the corner of Ladywood Street. It was voted upon unanimously that, 20-391 RESOLVED, to add a ”No Parking” (R 8-3) sign at the northeast corner of Levan Road and Ladywood Street, with a supplemental sign stating “No Standing or Stopping” to face northbound traffic. This request will be taking up with the sign shop within the Department of Public Works to research the issue and determine the best solution. Updates and Discussion An email was received requesting a left-turn phased/dedicated light at Ann Arbor Trail and Newburgh. Traffic signals are the responsibility of Wayne County. Chairman Policelli responded to the email that the roadway is slated for construction next year and hopefully the signal will be addressed. MDOT has noted the recommendations of the Engineering Department, along with the Traffic Commission, on retiming and other updates to the Middle Belt and Schoolcraft intersections. Grant funding is currently being sought after to help offset the cost. A request was made for a “No Left Turn” sign on Arden, just south of Five mile, after a recent traffic crash at that intersection. Intersections such as this one that are close to major intersections require the same amount of care and attentive driving when making turns. At this time, not further action will be taken. A request for additional signage for crosswalks near Hubbard, south of Plymouth Road, was received. Based on the current Google Street views, the area appears to have sufficient signage for both north and southbound traffic on Hubbard, including advanced warning signs of being near/within a school zone. No further action will be taken at this time. Motion to Adjourn – Motion to adjourn at 8:40 p.m. was made by Commissioner Katers, with support from Commissioner Wrenbeck, with no objections th NEXT MEETING: June 13, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in the 5 Floor Gallery of City Hall Submitted by: Jim Keller, Recording Secretary Page 2 of 2
